Success after IF

if you have a sliding glass door, what do you have covering it?

We currently have these material panels that we've had for about 5 yrs.   They were all fine and dandy until Nicholas got that stupid red clay on it from our backyard and I attempted to wash 2 of the panels in the washing machine.   It never said not to wash them.   Well they got ruined.  They shrunk and the rubber backing is all messed up too.  So it looks terrible and I hate how they look.   Soooo we have to get something else.   It's for the sliding door that goes out to our backyard, so it does get used everyday.  I'm looking for something that is easy to clean and something that my kids won't destroy and nothing too cheap (quality wise).

  • For now, I bought the thermal ones from Walmart and I am glad I did, my girls can't keep their hands off them. I was looking at some from JCpenney's but decided to wait until they get older. I hate spending money on curtains.

  • We have vertical blinds over ours.  However, it's in the basement and rarely used so I'm not sure how well that would work for a high-use door.  I know my son loves to crash through the blinds when we play in the basement, but we aren't down there all the time so he hasn't had a chance to destroy them.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

I'd probably get some cheap panels that are machine safe until the kids are older and won't mess with them so much.  I'd probably also attach them to metal rings so they're easier to open and close.

After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!

It sounds like those are the ones you already had up there.  They have a backing and cannot be washed. We took ours to the dry cleaners and even they wouldn't guarantee they wouldn't ruin them.  We ended up spot cleaning them and hanging them back up.

  • We have regular curtain panels that match the other window in the room. They are hung on rings and I hung the rod wide so the one curtain that is on the side where the door opens can be pushed all the way over and not block the door.

  • We have the panels too but their like woven not a material if that makes sense. If something got on them we could probably just wipe them down with soap and water or even 409 cleaner or something.
  • We have long cellular shades over ours (we have three sets out to our balcony from various rooms).   This is a rental so I didn't choose them, but I have been pretty happy.   They can be up and out of the way of kids when needed but easy to lower down.   We have had to make touching them an immediate timeout offense, though.  But after a week or two, she caught on and she leaves them alone now.

  • We have thick, sun blocking curtains over ours. They aren't my favorite but I needed something to protect my couches from the sun.

My mom has the electric ones (hunter douglas I think) that go up with the push of a button. They fold up into like a 1" box or something so you can barely see them when they are up. They were expensive but look really nice!

  • I got so sick of trying to cover my doors, I took the existing slider out and replaced it with the double panel sliding doors that have blinds built inside the two panes of glass. Love them!
