My lo is about ready to crawl and I just starting thinking about all the cute short sets that DS has for the summer. We have a lot of hardwood floors and some spaces with rugs. Does this become a problem when they crawl or am I overthinking this?
We had an usual warm spell here when our LO started crawling so he was wearing shorts for a bit. We have both carpet and linoleum in our apartment while our friends (whom we hang out with a lot). The different textures didn't seem to bother him at all but the skin on his knees did get darker and a little rougher...Sad to say good bye to that baby soft skin!

When we are inside, I put LO in pants because we have hardwood floors and she LOVES crawling. I noticed she would get red knees if I didn't. When we go out and it is warm, I'll throw on a pair of shorts.

Our entire house is hardwood floors and tile, DS didn't like it at first w/ shorts on, but now could care less. His little knees do get red though. Don't worry too much, she probably wont care.
We have mostly carpet, but there is tile in the kitchen. My dd started doing this thing where she would crawl normally on the carpet, but as soon as she got to the kitchen she would straighten her legs so her feet and hands were only touching the ground and crawl around that way. It was super funy to watch

I think babies crawl best in just a diaper. In fact, when DS in concrete he bear crawls on hands and feet to avoid scraping his knees. Babies can be pretty tough!
sort of. We have mainly carpets and I do notice that they get red knees, like a rug burn. I just put them in pants at home. On a hardwood floor, it's fine, they can be bare-kneed.
