Why do people say things like "it's our 5 month anniversary"? I have a FB friend who posts every month that it's her and her bf's ___ month anniversary, and I can't help but roll my eyes everytime.
**coming out of lurking because it just happened**
It's not a phrase just one word but it makes me grind my teeth - "irregardless"
**back to lurk**
LMAO I had a student in one of my college classes who used to say this constantly! One of my professors finally asked her one day, "How does one go about irregarding?" It went waaaaay over her head and I laughed so very hard.
This is bad, but because I didn't grow up going regularly to a church (we went here and there but never got overly involved) I find myself uncomfortable when someone uses churchy phrases around me and I don't know how to react.
People I know that speak like everyone else I know suddenly start saying "lift you up" and -others that I can't think of- and I find myself not sure how to translate a response.

Ditto. Not weird.
+1. What are you supposed to say to that? "Um...yeah you too."...awkward.
It's not really a phrase but I have this one coworker who is a total one-upper. Everything I say (particularly about my kids) she has to add her similar story with a little twist. It's really annoying.
I have a friend that starts almost every other sentence, "I mean I feel like _____". Example: I mean I feel like that is terrible news or I mean I feel like I would never do that. Once or twice I could probably handle but after spending hours with her I want to shout. It makes her sound stupid and immature.
A few years ago at my old job we were doing strategic planning (gag) and this was brought up. My coworker, who always had a dirty mind, started blushing and laughing at the same time. It became a joke in our department.
Gah, these bother me too. As does "ask" (used instead of "request") i.e "The ask is that we have the numbers to him by end of day." Also, I hate "out of pocket."
"Know what I mean?" (after every single statement they make)
"It's a God thing" (I believe in God for sure, but every.single.time someone says that to me it's like they're trying to convince themselves/me that this "too good to be true" situation is for realz. It has 100% failure rate so far....)

"Ask" as a noun? Blegh! I haven't heard that one yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Grrrr.

It might just be my company but I bet it'll spread. It's horrible.

They use this on Dragon's Den (CDN version of Shark Tank): "the ask is $100,000 for 10% of the company".

Re: Phrases that annoy you.
When I tell someone "Sorry about that/sorry to hear that" when they say they had a bad day or something and they say "it's not your fault".
Um, I know. I am simply empathizing.

This made me giggle. I hear you.
"It is what it is" makes me kind of twitchy too.

When someone says something then they say "Just Saying"
That annoys the shIit out of me. My aunt says it ALL.THE.TIME.
As well....
That just annoys me...don't know why
Also I hate when people call you over saying...
Hey You
(Not used in hey how are you doing)
MUTE point? lol.

I say this.

What sucks is that DH does it all the time!
Aww, now that is my phrase.
Said mostly to whining students.
I hate business jargon:
repurpose
low-hanging fruit
actionable
utilize
interface (as a verb)
innovate
leverage (as a verb)

It sounds so trashy. Like "somewheres".

Now I cannot see that without chuckling.
I can't think of a particular phrase, but I just get annoyed when people don't use punctuation, especially for their fb statuses..
"I did the laundry earlier and then went to pick up the kids at daycare its a hot day out I'm so glad that we are heading to the pool later on"
Agree. Synergy, skill set...the list goes on and on. Awful stuff.

"You's guys".
This one makes me want to get slappy.
LOL, I do that too!
Adding to the list:
quick wins
synergy
Me.

I hate that. Especially when it is said after a jumble of words I can't understand.
**Also lurking, but had to chime in
"Due to the fact" bugs me more than anything! Just say "because"!!!

An ex-coworker used to say that all the time & it made me cringe.
