hi all!

im a ftm and i am wondering what you all are purchasing before your showers. i figured we'd get the crib and furniture but im not sure whatelse i should get or wait on at this point. im getting excited to buy things for our little guy but i dont want to get ahead of myself!

We are buying a crib, mattress, dresser, and glider. I am also buying my cloth diaper stash and accessories since I'm not really registering for those.

FTM here also...we bought the bedding because I found one I loved and it was discontinued. We will also probably have the crib and mattress beforehand (and maybe some other furniture) because my parents gave us money to pay for that.

We've bought the crib, the matching dresser, and the stroller, and we're still planning on buying the crib mattress, the glider, the bookcase for the nursery, the car seat, the extra base for DH's car, and a breast pump and any accessories needed for it/related to it.

We bought the furniture, the mattress, and the bedding because it was being discontinued. I have also purchased a few things on etsy because I knew I wanted them and didn't want to ask specifically for them from other people. Other than that, we're waiting to see what I get at my showers and go from there.

DH and I bought a dresser from Craig's List and MIL wants to buy the crib and hopefully the matress. We will pick up the glider ourselves instead of registering for it, but might register for the ottoman. Basically we want to take care of buying the majority of the furniture prior to the showers.

We bought the furniture, a mattress, bedding, and a few things w/ coupons at BRU. And I begun a clothing stash of all sizes.. It's hard not to get clothes.

I'm a FTM too. My parents bought our crib, mattress, and dresser. We bought our glider and bedding, as well as our stroller system. My mom has picked up random items here and there like a Boppy, shopping cart cover, stroller head support insert, etc. And mom and I have put a large dent in the clothes department.

We registered mainly for things like a swing, bouncy seat, pack and play, extra crib sheets, and bath accessories. I tired to make sure that there was a wide variety of price ranges and large and small items. But honestly, I just winged it. I really didn't know what to ask for or what we *really* need.

For DS, I didn't put anything for the nursery (furniture/decor) on the registry and purchased everything between 25-30ish weeks.

So far I bought the PnP (because the one I liked wasn't available at BRU where I registered, and I got it on sale), and the video monitor (because it was way less expensive than the ones at BRU). I keep trying to reign myself in when it comes to buying baby clothes, because I'm sure that will be a popular gift, but I let myself buy some because I feel like it helps me bond with the baby. My family is really generous and is buying our crib and dresser, so I'll probably also buy a glider and ottoman before the shower. I don't expect anyone to gift things like the breastpump or mattress, but I'm leaving them on the registry until I receive the completion discount coupon.

I have not bought anything yet! I think I'm a freak of nature, lol. My MIL already bought some things before we knew it was a boy (GO TEAM BLUE!) and now that we just found out the gender, she told us to look out for another box in the mail. My friend who just had a boy is giving us one of their travel systems because they got two and only used one. Another friend gave us a boppy already. My MIL also sent me $100 to use however I like so I will put that towards the furniture.

A friend told me to register for everything even if I plan to buy it myself because I can get a discount by buying it off the register.
