Success after IF

DH wasn't too happy that Nicholas was playing with a Purse today

so Nicholas' latest craze is Doc McStuffins.   He loves that show and now he is using Ava's Laugh and Learn purse and pretends it's his Dr Bag.   He'll take the accessories out of it and say "Need to check you eyes"  and then proceed to stick a fake lipstick near my eye.    So today he was playing with it and DH says "I think we need to get rid of the purse (but he spelled it out, so N wouldn't know what he was talking about)".    I said "Why?!"   DH gave me a look like "Um because my son is a boy and shouldn't be carrying around a purse".

Too which I responded "Leave him alone, let him play with what he wants to play with."   Geez.   Who cares that he is playing with a Purse.    I think it shows that he has a great imagination (using the things in the Purse as Dr tools).  Besides it's not like Ava plays with it.

  • I think that sounds so cute:) I agree, let him play. DS wears DD's hair bows around the house, so we don't even blink an eye when he plays with her purses or dolls;)

DD also likes that show, she'll ask to watch "stuffins."

  • Too cute. As a mom I'd be happy my son was using his imagination to play but MH would have responded the same way YH did!

Playing with a purse isn't going to make him any less of a boy.  Besides, he's not even using it as a purse, not that I'd have an issue if he did.  But maybe that will make your husband feel better about it.  Kids like to mimic what they see, especially from their favorite people.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Daniel got a purse out of my closet one day, put the strap right over his shoulder and walked around the house with it.  My husband laughed and said "oh great".  Some part of him feels like these things should bother him but they don't.  It must be his inner caveman. lol

I was surprised Daniel even knew what to do with it.  I rarely carry a purse and usually it's when I'm going out with friends alone.  Maybe it's from seeing the diaper bag over my shoulder?

  • My mother keeps all of Dillon's small toys at her house in a purse. One day H was over there and grammy said Dillon go get your purse and he comes carrying it out and H freaked. From then on we have to call it GRAMMY's purse not Dillon's purse LOL

Wait until my H finds out that Dillon chose the princess band-aids over the super hero ones when we went to the store a few days ago...

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • That's funny, the girls each have one of those purses and have been using it as  their doctor bag:)

    Tell H to back off:)

  • I think it is great that he is using it so imaginatively, and I don't know why your H is so bothered by it that he would suggest taking a toy away from a kid (even if it was on the sly).
