My DD is cruising along with no problem, holding onto things with one hand while doing something else with the other, standing alone for 5-40 seconds, and has taken a few steps in between DH and I, or to get to a toy. However, this is where it stops. Once she realizes she's standing alone, she sits.
I'm just curious if anyone has any ideas of how to get her to confidentally stay standing or take steps. I'm not worried she's behind, or wanting to rush her, however, I feel like she would be so happy if she could walk more. You can tell she wants to, just doesn't quite have the confidence yet I guess. TIA! ![]()
Also, she walks all over with her push toy.
Re: Walking Question
At first, we noticed the things he would take a step or 2 between and moved them a little farther apart... just to see if he'd do it (for example, the activity table and the coffee table or the ottoman and the couch). Sometimes yes, sometimes no. When he was getting 2-3 steps between things, I'd just stand him in the middle of the floor and back up holding something he loves (usually my keys or my phone). He'd start walking toward me before he had time to think.
Although, I'll say it probably helped that he could walk before he could stand on his own for very long. I think the falling momentum made him want to walk (stumble) forward.
DD did that for a couple of weeks before taking her real first steps. I would stand her up and reach my arms out to encourage her to come to me. Your LO is close and will do it soon, I'm sure. My DD has been walking for a few weeks and went from a few steps here and there to walking all over the place. Give it time...it'll progress quickly once it starts.
