TTC after 35

Just read a "Mother's Day poem for infertiles" on GP board :(

I sometimes lurk over there because I know a person who is on that board still from over here. Someone posted a poem and damn it made me cry.

ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!

  • I don't think I ever want to go there. That sounds like a dark bad place.

As it is, I cry too easily-- like my bladder is near my eye. I don't need any help these days, for sure and for certain.

  • Why can't I figure out what "GP" stands for?

Can someone fill me in? I'm sure it's obvious and I'm just very foggy this morning but I can't figure it out!

TTC since 3/2010. Me 41, DH-49. After 3 years, 6 IUIs and several IVFs we have finally have our beautiful baby girl, born on 11/7/13.

  • I couldn't find it either, but it's probably a good thing.  I cry at everything too.

Link and poem for those who didn't see it. https://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/65779141.aspx Happy Mother's Day? it comes around every year; but when you have empty arms, it's very hard to hear. It's a day to celebrate a mother; for all the trials she overcame; and a reminder to an infertile of her loneliness and shame. But what really makes a mother, Is it just conception and birth? Or is there something more, that shows a mother's worth? It's putting your child first, in everything you do; it's sacrifice and determination, and love and patience too. An infertile woman makes all her plans, around a child not yet conceived; she loves them even though they aren't here, more than she ever could have believed. She appreciates and understands, what a blessing that children are; she works hard for just a chance, that motherhood is not that far. All odds are stacked against her, and yet she still has hope; everyday is another struggle, finding ways to help her cope. So even though her arms are empty, she can still be a mother too; So say a special ?Happy Mother's Day? for those waiting for their dreams to come true!

Glad to know I'm not the only one.  All I could think of was Gwyneth Paltrow's crappy self-indulgent GOOP blog.

This made me laugh out loud. I can't stand her and it seems like no one can and

yet, there she is...I didn't know she had a blog.

    Totally off topic:

My brother met her several years ago in a really unique situation where he was in a room with her, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts for an extended period of time, just the 4 of them.

Gwyneth was totally standoffish, obnoxious and none of our family can stand her because of the story. Julia, on the other hand was cool as hell. (Though she totally annoys me with her self indulgent shout-outs to her kids whenever she is presenting an award) but she was cool to my brother and kinda made fun of Gwyneth to him and then later called him her personal hero for the evening.

He loves to tell this story, he has good delivery and has it down to a science. It could be a one man show.   And at the end, everyone would hate Gwyneth Paltrow :)
