Babies on the Brain

Birth story with pics!

After being in some form of Early labor for 10 days my water broke at 6:15 AM on Thursday.
I was dilated to four and got to hospital at 8:30.
Contractions weren't getting strong or coming as fast and I was checked at 12:30 and was dilated to five and we decided to start Pitocin.
1 PM put in internal monitor.
Broke remaining fore water at 2:30. Pit at 3.0.  Dilation at 5.5.
3:06 I felt a sharp popping pain and beg DH to get a nurse.
The baby's heart rate dropped.
It just so happened that my OB was sitting at the nurses station.
She suspected a compressed cord. I kept screaming in pain and at first she thought I was dilating quickly and was hoping we were going to push the baby out right away.
But the baby's heart rate dropped again and uterine pressure monitor showed negative.
Diagnosed uterine rupture.
3:06 uterine rupture, off to emergency surgery .
3:14 pm baby Faith Frances born, apgar one minute after birth: 8
8# 15 oz. 22.25" long.

One of the best and worse experiences of my life.  I will never forget what it felt like to be ran down the hallway to the OR not knowing the outcome{AGAIN}.  I was in so much pain I kept yelling at them to knock me out(I didn't have an epidural and they had to do the surgery under general anesthesia) I remember the OB yelling back at the Dr. not to knock me out until she was ready. At least this time DH got to look through the window and he got to be with Faith as soon as she left the OR.

The nurses were amazing! I am the first person they've had with a uterine rupture in 15 years and my night nurse was the same one that was with me the night our son was born via emergency c-section.

My Dr. highly recommended that this is our last child.  If we were to get pregnant again she could not guarantee the outcome and would want to deliver at 32 weeks. We have decided that she is right and couldn't be selfish enough to risk my life or that of another child. DH will be making an appt to get a vasectomy as soon as I talk to the OB again.

She is absolutely perfect.  Recovery is pretty rough right now, I'm definitely better than I was Friday but c-sections just suck. I would do it again in a heartbeat if it meant a healthy baby.
Faith is absolutely adored by her older siblings. I'm sure it will wear off but they have been gentle and kind. I am very impressed.

All in all we are very blessed and we are home and happy!
