Baby and Toddler Music

So I've been scouring iTunes for children's music that isn't annoying to listen to and I came across Caspar Babypants. It's a guy, a guitar, and (mostly) original songs. Think Jack Johnson for your infant (although his music is pretty good for babies too, nice and mellow). Anyway, DD loves it. She's all smiles and giggles whenever I put it on.

There's a song lamenting the poor life of dust bunnies, one about floating on a monkey river, and one in which a bone becomes a house for a crab- just fun, cute stuff that won't make your ears bleed. Thought I would mention it in case anyone else was being driven to drink from listening to Wheels on the Bus for the 5,000th time.

  • oh yeah!  I read about him - it's the lead singer from the band The Presidents of the United States of America (Millions of Peaches...)

Renee & Jeremy is another good one.  I listed to "Welcome to this World" a million times while pregnant.

If you're a Jack Johnson fan, try Sing-a-longs & Lullabies for the Film Curious George.  It's wonderful.

  • Thanks for the recomendation. My toddler loves music so I've certainly listened to my fair share of annoying children's music.

I like Elizabeth Mitchell's you are my little bird. Her music is folk acoustic- I often find myself singing along.

  • I like Ralph's world, little ones love dancing to it. It is a little cheesy, but not too bad.

  • My son loves Linda Ronstadt lullabies. It is very nice music and it calms him down.

These are great!  Thanks for the recommendations.

I typed in Rockabye Baby into Pandora and now I have an endless loop of rock songs that have been elevator-ized.  The lullaby channel on Pandora is good too.

The Dragon Tales (cartoon) soundtrack is fun! It's all "follow along" songs that you can dance to. K loves when we dance to them, our favorite song is Doodli-Do :)
  • Awesome suggestions ladies, thanks!

  • I was going to suggest Rockabye baby too.  The Putamayo (sp?) series which does a lot of world music is good and they even have a kids line with lullabies and play music...  They are great and definately not annoying to listen to.  The other thing I have been using is our regular music collection. DD likes Jack Johnson (and I do have the Curious George music mixed in there), and Bob Marley.
  • I just recently discovered Keller Williams did a Kids album. It's really funny, I enjoy as much as DD does!
