Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Would you pay this much for a high chair?

I am starting to think about solids. We didn't get a high chair at our baby shower so decided to just wait. I really really like this high chair but it is pricey. We are planning on having another baby, MAAAYBE two more. Do you think it is worth it? Or should I go with a fisher price one? We aren't broke but I don't want to waste money either.

Re: Would you pay this much for a high chair?

  • I just saw this highchair at a baby store this weekend, it's really cool. I like that you could use it for a really long time, and I honestly don't think our Graco highchair (which is nice, and was around $150) is that great. I don't think the price of this chair is that much more than most highchairs. And you can probably recoup half of this from re-selling it once you're done with it (moreso than other highchairs).

My one issue with this, I wish it had a tray of some kind. When they are small, it's a lot easier to have a tray vs. scooting them up to your big table. But that's just preference.

  • It's very cool looking but seems like it might be uncomfortable for a LO. Is there a place you can go to try it out? As for price, it's not that much more than other chairs.

I don't like it. It seems hard and uncomfortable to sit in. Like PP said they do not use them for long...We paid 150.00 for our swing and DD only used it for a few weeks, I saw a Graco high chair at Once Upon A Child this weekend for 35 bucks and it looked brand new! When we go to buy a high chair I will be checking there first. GL!!

Agreed with this totally!  Also other post, where you should look at once upon a child, or another consignment- they have great stuff and usually only take stuff that is in good shape.  We have the Joovy Nook high chair- love it, paid about $125.  It has a 5 point harness, faux leather that is removable to be washed and tray and snap in tray topper for easy cleaning.  I would recommend.

Our friends have two of these.  Their 4 and 6 year old still use them.  You would get years of use of one of these, as opposed to a few months out of a typical high chair.  You can also buy a tray that fits on them from another retailer on Amazon.

  • Personally, yes I would and I did.  We bought the svan chair for my first. She now uses it as a booster. Well convert it back to a highchair in a few months for dd2. We love how it grows with the kids and never looks out of place at the table. I love that there are no cushions to get coated with food. DD1 has never complained or looked uncomfortable in it.

  • Yes I totally would - especially how cool it looks! I'm just starting to look at h-chairs so this will definitely be one I'll look into. It's something they use multiple times a day and will be sitting out on full display at all time so I think it's one of those things to splurge on. At first glance I read a few negative reviews though so I am going to do more research but I'd definitely pay that much.

  • Nope.  Our $30 chair that straps to an existing chair works just fine.  It turns into a booster for later and I don't see my kid using a high chair once they are able to be out of the booster.  A regular chair will do just fine when they are old enough.
  • LOL. NO WAY! Sorry, but NO WAY! It's a high chair!
  • Nope. I have not and will not pay that much for any of the girls' furniature. It's all come from 2nd hand stores, garage sales, or hand me downs. I can not afford the best of the best, nor do I think we need it. Not for us or for our children. And so what if a high chair or booster seat is bright colors and doesn't fit the "decor" of my house. Hello, I have kids. Company can deal with it or leave. Most of the stuff will be gone in a year or 2 anyway. The most expensive thing we got was the car seat/stroller combo and that's only because the car seat has the highest safety rating, which was important. Otherwise, what a waste of $$.

  • I Have this chair and my 5 year old still sits in it.  I would highly recommend it.  It is nice to know that my kid isnt going to knock this over when he is sitting in it.  Totally worth the money!!
  • Yes! We bought the black one from amazon last month and I love the way that it works in our kitchen. My lo is 6 months old and is small, he sits up well and is so proud when he sits with us at the table. It is easy to clean and I like that it looks like adult furniture. We did not buy the tray or baby seat. I think that I will buy the tray however so that he can use it for playing on while I am cooking.
  • I think that is worth the money!

I don't think it's worth the price but my niece (2 years old) still uses hers.  If you can afford it, go for it, otherwise look around.  You may find something else you like that's more affordable.   I will say that the fisher price high chair - while less expensive and cute - is a PITA to clean since it has a cushion.  I hear that about the chicco high chairs too.

  • I have this one and it's very cool.  It looks nice and not plastic-y like typical chairs, plus your child can use it for a long time.  They have nice covers that you can buy that add cushion to it.
