What happened to my sleeping baby?

For two months or so, DS would sleep from about 8pm to 8am, and wake only once a night, around 4am.  Then he hit about three months, and we tried transitioning him from rnp in his room to crib.  I also went back to work.  He started waking up every few hours, sometimes the only way to get him back to sleep was to nurse.  Then he got sick with croup, so we put him back in the rnp to help him sleep better, but that didn't help.  Now he has a lingering cough that wakes him up. We joke that he has little devil horns that come out at night and he retracts them in the morning.  He won't sleep past 5am either (he could sleep till 6:45 or 7 if he wanted to).  So for a month we've been up every 1.5-2 hours at night.  I guess I just needed to whine because I know eventually he will sleep better, but ugh we are going absolutely crazy.  Any one else's LO get a cough and keep it?? I feel like we are making up for him sleeping so well the first 3 months of his life...  and now we are going to have to do the crib transition all over again.  Not that he ever even got used to it...

Re: What happened to my sleeping baby?

  • Sorry :( my little one coughs/chokes from her reflux sometimes. Luckily it doesn't happen all the time. She actually just started sleeping well, from 10-6. When she eats I have to kepp her upright for 30-60 minutes or she will cough and choke when I lay her down. So not only was she waking up at night, I was staying up at least an hour each time :(

  • I could have written yor post!  I started back to work the 2nd of April...LO got a pretty bad cold from daycare the following week, and has been getting worse and worse with sleep since then...his cold is gone but with it came a lingering cough and some congestion...it wakes him up and he cant go back to sleep without a lot of walking, nursing, rocking, etc.  I'm so frustrated...he used to sleep 7p-4a, 4-6a...yeah, not anymore.  Do you put him down awake?  I'm thinking I need to do some gentle sleep training.
