No one wants to hire me since I'm obviously preggo. I've been trying to come up with ideas of what I can do from home or even part-time, but nothing seems to be working out. It's really quite frustrating. Anyone else going through this or have any suggestions?!?
Re: I need a job, but...
same here. I graduate with my master's in school counseling in a week, and I had to stop working, living off of savings, for the last 8 months I did my internship in.
This LO jumped the gun by appearing about 6 months before we were considering starting to try, so being pregnant removes a LOT of my options for job-searching now.
My DH is actively looking for a new, higher-paying job to help with some of the increased costs that will happen between part-time daycare, and me only working part-time.
Are you in a metropolitan area? Whenever I am between jobs, I join a temp agency and tell them I am looking for longer term assignments. That means a solid week at one place or longer. The last time I did it, I was filling in for someone on maternity leave so I was there for a solid two months. Worked out great for me.
The only thing they ask of you at the beginning is a basic background check to make sure you are not a wanted criminal and you usually have to complete a basic computer test since most temp work is secretarial. Hope you find something.

I'm in the same boat. I have been at my job for 4 years. In December, I was told that a supervisory position would be opening up, and that I was up for a promotion. (My supervisor got demoted- he sucked.) It took a few months to get him out of position, but in March, we were free and clear.
All of a sudden, our district office said our company was freezing all movement within the company, and we were put under a hiring "pause". The earliest it looks like it's going to open is mid-June.
I have been assured that the position is still mine, (as long as it doesn't get eliminated when we undergo our operating model changes), but in the mean time, I'm out of luck. The pay difference is about $15,000, which I NEED in order to remain at my current job. Otherwise, I would have to look elsewhere for a position that pays more. I am really mad. If they hadn't strung me along since early December, I could have been in another position by now, but at this point, nobody is going to hire me 5 months pregnant. I have no advice, but I hear you. It sucks. :-/
I've recently started crafting. I'm thinking of opening my own Etsy shop. Do you have a special talent or hobby that you could make $$ from?
The only problem with subbing is that once lo gets here you'll need childcare. I priced childcare centers around here for their drop off rates...it's $75 a day, and here a sub only makes $85 a day. If you have family close by that would be willing to watch lo it could work.
I have been searching for about a month. I've put out about 50 resumes (I live in smaller town so there isn't a lot of options) and I've only heard back from Mcdonald's. Now I told them I am pregnant and they didn't hire me. Discrimination for sure but that's a whole other story. As I was reading your post I got a phone call for a job interview tomorrow and I am not telling them I'm pregnant. I'm 21 weeks and I'm starting to pop but I can still get away with hiding it in the right clothing.
My suggestions would be don't tell them and hide your bump the best you can.
As a teacher I do the summer camp thing (kinda)
I tutor and work one-on-one with a 16 yr old that is on the spectrum... its "CAP" work but its super fun and alot of families need ppl for the summer! so contact the YMCA, any other local summer camps or any SPED teachers that might know families that need help over the summer!
