Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Whiny baby....losing my mind!!!

Our 11 mo has been a challenge since she was 2 weeks old and I am soooooooo sick of the crying!!  The last 2 weeks have been a nightmare with whining, crying, clinging, etc,  She had a bit of a cold and probably has more teeth coming in but I am so frustrated with her being unhappy most of the time.  I just don't know what to do.  I put her down and she'll play for a few minutes but then come crawling over to me and cry until I pick her up.  It's hard to know when she's not feeling well or when she's just being her typical self.  Everyone says to not give in but then I think, what if she really isn't feeling well and I am just ignoring her when she needs a cuddle.  Not to mention half the time when I do pick her up she squirms like she wants to get down.  It's so FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!

  • Same here. I just tell myself I'm going to miss the clingy stage so take now before she wants to be more independent.

  • Is she breastfed of formula fed?

Have you asked your doctor or pedi about it?

The only reason I ask if she is bf or ff is because my dd was miserable for the first 6 months of her life. Even when she was "happy" she was still whiny. I was bfing and I guess something wasn't agreeing with her because she would constantly cry. I switched to formula she completely changed.

I hope you find answers soon. I know how frustrating it can be :(

  • My DD is exactly the same.  I've felt so frustrated with her since she got colicky at 3w.  I sometimes just have to let her cry and whine.  Every so often, if I really feel frustrated I put her in her crib for a few minutes while I compose myself.

People don't understand how frustrating it is....because basically all you want to do is keep your baby happy, and somehow you feel like you are failing.  since she pretty has every need taken care of.  My DD cries to be held, and as soon as I pick her up she squirms to get down.  All I want to do is just hold and cuddle her and she doesn't like being cuddled that much.  DS is the total opposite which makes it really hard.  I had a harder time bonding with her because she always cried, all day.
