Ditching the bottle- Day 3

So we are on day three of no bottles. I've tried for months and months with the sippy cup and he would drink it but he still clearly was attached to the bottle. I finally sucked it up and went cold turkey this weekend. Ugh. I think I need someone to hold me. He is on to us and don't seem to want to drink it nearly as well as he had been. Tell me this will get better and soon?

  • I'm sorry, I have no advice, but please let me know how it turns out.  When it was time to wean DS1, it was so easy because he had the binky for comfort.  DS2 doesn't take a binky and is addicted to the damn bottle, lol.  I know it's going to be time to wean, but I'm scared!

  • We stopped cold turkey when we switched to WCM at 12 mos, and DD has never really had as much from cups as she did when she still got a bottle.

Since she eats plenty of regular food though, we are not too worried about it.   We just make sure she gets other forms of dairy (in addition to whatever WCM she drinks from the cup).

Hope it works out for you!

  • We are on day 11 of no bottles and LO has yet to drink milk.  He will drink water out of a sippy cup and has since about 10 months old.

We also make sure to give him 3 servings of yogurt a day.  For times we want to avoid a mess we give him an Earths Best yogurt smoothie pouch.

I figure as long as LO is still getting calcium from other sources not drinking milk isn't the end of the world.
