Solutions for cleaning silver nitrate off skin?

My son had a stubborn granuloma that has taken several applications of silver nitrate to finally get rid of. This last time, it must have gotten a little wet when I was sponge bathing him and he has a big stain on his skin under his belly button. I tried using a little rubbing alcohol and it didn't even touch it. Is there some secret solution to get this stuff off of him or do I just have to wait it out until it goes away on its own?

    our pedi had to use this too, DD had a granuloma. She said the staining from the silver nitrate will eventually go away but it could take months. that's not abnormal.

    not much you can do about it according to her!

    Nothing to do but wait.  I use it at work and have gotten it on my hands from time to time.  Other than a lot of exfoliating and frequent hand washing there isn't a good way to speed up the fading.  Depending on how much is on there and how frequently you wash the area it may take a few weeks to disappear completely.
