Re: Flat had

  • No.  We have taken measures to prevent this.

  • No, but DS has always been a side sleeper.  If you're concerned about it, let your pediatrician know.  They can discern if you need to put LO in a special helmet to help reshape their head.  However, it may not be as bad as you think it is.  Best of luck to you!

  • My DD has a little flat spot where her soft spot is. It is about the size of a half dollar. I'm going to ask at her 4 month checkup, but I think it is not an issue. The sooner you have it checked out the better though. If it isn't corrected soon they may have to wear those helmets for a year.

  • DS has one on the top side of his head- caused by torticollis. We are in physical therapy now. Because we are on track to correct it by 5 months the prognosis is good for avoiding a helmet!! Which, by the way, is $3,000 and not covered by insurance.
  • We have a spot on the back right side so the pedi suggested we have him look more left and have him sit more and tummy time. I have heard they can fix themselves.

We are afraid of the helmet but he is a great sleeper at night (8-10 hours) so I cant make him sleep in one position all night. We are just going to see how it all develops as he grows.
