Do you notice that some situations make them worse than others? I'm fairly certain that my BH contractions have morphed into prelabor. I'm having about 6-10 contractions a day, so nothing to worry about yet, but I have noticed it's a lot worse if I have to go to the bathroom, when I'm really full, or when I just stand up. Has anyone else noticed this? Maybe it's just coincidence (although I have heard of having a full bladder causing contractions before).
Re: If you're having frequent contractions...
This. I'm due on Thursday and have 1-2 contrax an hour...more sometimes at the end of the day. The only way to stop them is for me to lie down.
No, I didn't say it was a lot. It's just more frequent than what I had been having, which was maybe 1-2 BH contractions a day. I had very few BH contractions with my first baby and didn't have many contractions at all until I was actually in labor, so this is unusual for me this early. Since I'm having them more often this time, I've noticed that certain things seemed to provoke them, but I wasn't sure if that was just coincidence...if I can prevent those things (like maybe not waiting until my bladder is really full to pee? I don't know) that would be ideal since I don't want to have this baby quite yet!
I was in the hospital last week for pre-term labor (strong contractions 4 minutes apart for hours), and had to have a shot to get the contractions to stop - I was told that BH's get worse when your bladder is full or when you're dehydrated, and should change in intenstity or go away when you change position. Baby moving alot and standing up from a sitting position can also cause them to increase in intensity.
If you're having contractions that don't go away and are coming at regular intervals, you should call your Dr because it could be preterm labor - I was also told that BH's get stronger as you get closer to your due date, but shouldn't be at regular intervals. Hope this helps!
