LO wide awake for long periods?

I'm sure this is normal...but doesn't seem to me for a newborn.  DD has day/night confusion and is wide awake and ready to party from 9pm to 1 or 2 every night...last night it was till 3!  She's not fussy during this time and does cluster feed, but is just wide awake.  And of course sleeps 90% of the day. Anyone else's LO this way? It just seems like such a long period of time for her to be awake?

Yep my LO will totally be ready to rock and roll when we need sleep. Are you swaddling? That had been our only savior to sleep. Knocks LO right out.

  • We tried to swaddle, but the only place she will sleep is the rock n play, and I like to strap her in to that, so we have to have free legs.
  • DD has 2 stretches of awakeness during the day...1 in the morning and 1 in late evening/early night for 2-3 hours each time...but she is typically down by 1030PM.  We try to wake her up around 7 for a bath and nurse her and play with her then nurse her again and she goes to sleep

  • Livi has stayed wide awake for at least 1hr out of like, 4-5hrs since she was born. Now she'll be 4wks old tomorrow and she'll stay awake in 3+hr stretches.
