Swelling & fluid retention in back & on sides

Over the past few days I have noticed that I have quite a bit of swelling/fluid retention (actually what seems to be pockets of fluid) on both sides of my back, extending into each side above my hips.  This is getting quite uncomfortable and it has actually started to hurt when I turn from side to side.  Is anyone else dealing with this?  Do you think it's something to be concerned about?

    This sounds pretty odd, and I think you should really call your doctor right away.  It could be nothing, but I worry about the location being the same as the location of your kidneys.
