pain in lower abdomen at 12 weeks pregnant near c-section scar

Okay repeat c-sectioners...I have had 3 c-sections and am currently almost 12 weeks pregnant with #4. I am having sharp pains (different than RLP ) in my lower abdomen near my c-section scar, as well as the "hot spot" feelings that I typically get as I heal from a c-section. My last c-section was just over 2 years ago.  Has anyone else experienced these types of pain in pregnancies following your c-sections? This has never happened to me before and is quite painful. My next appt is in a week and I will be discussing it with my dr.

  • My external scar and what feels like the scar tissue in my uterus have hurt off and on throughout my second and third pregnancies. (Both of my first deliveries were c/s and this one will be as well.) It's normal for the scar tissue to hurt as it stretches, so what you're feeling is probably normal.

  • This was a surprise, but my dr. doesn't seem concerned. In fact, at my yearly exam in October he asked me if we were planning on #4 and I told him no. He didn't caution me after I had my 3rd csection against having any more children. I would have a serious heart to heart with your dr. if you really want more than 3 children. It isn't impossible to have more than 3, but I have read that after 3 c-sections there can be more complications, so maybe that is what he is referring to. I  am trying not to read too much b/c at this point it doesn't matter, it has to happen and VBAC would not be an option for me.

  • Thanks for telling me this. I was assuming it was, but never thought about it being an issue since it hadn't been before. I go to the dr on Friday and will discuss it with him. It is pretty uncomfortable at times!
