XP: I need a facts of life book for a really young kid.

I figured that this board would have more experience with these questions.  :-)

I rocked the "How did DD get out of your belly?" question, but didn't do so well with the "Well, how did a baby get in there?" question and the 2 billion questions that followed.  He didn't take "Mommy and Daddy loved each other very much and wanted to have a baby, so we put one in my belly to grow," as an acceptable answer.  So, I sketched out the basic mechanics, with lots of, "this is something that only grown ups that are married can do" (LOL) and he still had tons of questions.

Geez, kid, give it a rest.  Was not expecting this conversation at 4, but DH and I both swore that we'd always answer questions honestly and not act like it's a scary thing to talk about.

So, any book recs?

  • We got Amazing You: getting smart about your private parts. It talks about egg and sperm meeting and making a baby but doesn't get into how they meet. It's kept my now 6 yr olds satisfied.

  • We bought It's Not The Stork a few years ago when my step-daughter was that age.  Great for going through together!

Thanks for posting this.  I'm hoping to need it sometime soon for my 8 year old!
