So happy, we found a Svan high chair in excellent condition on Craigslist for only $150! That might seem expensive for a used chair but they typically sell new for close to $400 and can be used until your LO is a pre-teen as a regular chair. They're also nice and small so they don't take up half your dining room, which was the big selling point for us when we got one for our first son (also used on CL). So if you are wondering what kind of high chair to get and want something small and will last many years - try a Svan chair! :-D

I hope my tween will sit in just a regular chair without needing a special chair!
We went with a $30 booster seat that straps on to a regular chair. Saves money, space, is portable and I can just hose it down in the shower after a meal. :-) But the Svan does look nice!
Get the Svan because you like it for a baby. But when I hear people say "it's such a good deal because it will last through the teens!" I just have to roll my eyes. Because....
(1) what's wrong with regular dining chairs for anyone over 8?
(2) what's wrong with boosters for those under 8?
(3) why would you even want 5 regular dining room chairs and then 1 ?ber modern one?
(4) What 12 year old is going to want to be segregated in a "special" chair?
This exactly. I love that it takes up no additional space and it becomes a booster. After that, a regular chair will do just fine for us. And it was $30.
