Little Gym or Gymboree

I am about to sign DS up, but I cannot decide which one. I went to a trial class at both and DS loved both classes. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences at either.

Re: Little Gym or Gymboree

  • We love our Gymboree class! I like how they change the "course" every 2 weeks and they also have open gym a few times a week.

  • I have no experience with either (DD goes to swimming at the Y), but if your DS loved both classes, it sounds like you can't go wrong. In that case I would base my decision on cost and convenience (location, times available). I'm sure he'll have a blast whichever you choose!

  • I have been leaning toward little gym since it is closer! Other then location, they seem so similar. Thank you for all the advice. We are also taking swimming lessons and DS loves them! They are about to end so I was looking for a new class to take.

I never did a trial at Little Gym because we joined Gymboree when James was 8 weeks old. I was looking for classes to take during maternity leave that would have him interact with other kids prior to starting daycare.  I don't think Little Gym had classes for babies that young. If you are planning to have more babies, Gymboree might be a better fit for the family.

Otherwise, go with what is closer.

  • Blazing Unicorn took little blazer to both. Both burned down in an aurora borealis of magical flames. Don't worry Blazing Unicorn saved the little ones the only way she knows how: Amazingly.

I started my lo at little gym when she was five months old and shes just a little over a year. Now that she's more active(crawling and walking) its gotten really difficult to get her to sit through the stretching part but other than that she has a blast.

We love The Little Gym.  IMO it comes down to the instructor.  Our teacher is amazing and has really helped in Maddie's development.  Also I feel like Maddie has actually learned things there.  (she is close to doing a front roll on her own).  Gymboree is fun and I like the open gym option.  However, the classes are small by us and not very energetic.  Also the teacher seemed very distant and like we were just money to her.  So, we are sticking to TLG.

  • I tried Gymboree on a free class, and I'm not going to back for more.  I think my experience though had a lot to do with the instructor and the other moms that were there that day though.  Unfortunately, they are our only Gymboree branch here.
