Natural Birth

Books?

What books would you say are must reads?  I am already reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth... what else should I get??

  • I highly recommend The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin for both you and your partner (if they are willing).  Very straight forward and informative.

I attended a book signing event just yesterday for Sacred Pregnancy by Anni Daulter and I wish I had it earlier in my pregnancy.  It is a great replacement for weekly pregnancy books like What to Expect and it gives lot great journaling prompts to help you explore your feelings about the pregnancy and address things you might not have otherwise.

  • This is more of a memoir than an instruction book, but I loved "Baby Catcher" by Peggy Vincent.  There are a lot of beautiful birth stories in it.

  • I read Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and am now reading her Guide to Breastfeeding. I also bought the DVD "The business of being born" and reccomend that.

  • OP - there is a thread I started on this a couple of threads down.  It has a bunch of books listed that I will definitely be looking into.  :)
