C-sections

What to wear home after c-section

Hello everyone.  I am scheduled for a C-section this Thurs due to breech and I wanted to know what other people have worn home from the hospital after a c-section.  I packed a loose pair of velour pants and both a maternity tee and tank top depending on the weather.  Do you think the pants will cause discomfort since they have a waist band?

  • I wore a pair of maternity yoga pants (full panel) and a nursing tank and maternity tshirt.  Once I got home I was fine wearing comfy pants, like you are talking about, because my incision was really low.  I think you will be fine.

  • I got some maternity sweats from Target for $12 they were awesome! They had a belly thing to pull up so it didnt put pressure right on my incision. I actually still wear them just bc they are comfortable.
If you have ones with a waist band it may be to tight for you, espeically if you're like me and bloated up a bit.
I ended having to buy slippers at the hospital bc my feet swelled up so bad that they couldnt even fit into my husbands shoes. LOL.

  • I wore Yoga pants with a fold over waist band so I could adjust the height of the waist. For a top I just worse a maternity tank and a cardigan/sweater thing. Shoes I wore my ugg slippers home, my feet were too swollen for the flats I had brought with me.

This!!!  Be sure to bring shoes that you could expand in, or be prepared to wear your slippers.  :)

  • I wore yoga pants. They weren't so low that they sat right on my incision. My top was just a nursing top and slippers! Like PP stated your feet might be swollen so it's best to wear slippers :)

  • I wore velour pants home and they were fine. The waistband didnt bother me because it was higher than my incision. If they were low rise or something that might bother you but otherwise it should be ok.

  • I swelled up SO much after my c/s that I couldn't fit in most of the clothes I brought. Fortunately, one pair of baggy sweats worked (low rise, just wore them above the incision). However, my milk also came in and I was engorged, and the only thing that fit up top was one of DH's t-shirts. I looked pretty frumpy!

The minute I got home I sent my MIL out to Target to get some bigger clothes. I wore them for about a week due to swelling and engorgement.

I was a hot mess. Lol.

  • YOGA PANTS!!  I loved them.  It was February when I had my DD, so I wore yoga pants, maternity tee & sweater.

I actually was getting wheeled out of the room when the nurse yelled "You forgot your tennis!"  lol

  • You want to wear something that comes up higher than the incision.  As in granny panties.  Seriously.  My mom was sweet enough to go run out and buy me some at the last minute because I tried to put on my regular underwear and it rubbed right against the incision.  As for pants, I wore cotton yoga-type pants.  Because I was wearing the high-cut granny panties, they provided a nice protective barrier between the incision and the pants.  Good luck!
