TTC after 35

Hello again!

I posted an intro awhile back, but haven't been able to post as much lately due to a crazy work schedule.  Things are finally evening out, so hopefully I get to join in alot more than I have of late.  My only thought right now is...

Thank goodness its Friday!  What's on everyone's agenda?  I'm going to try my hand at homemade laundry detergent tomorrow!

Me: 37 DH: 43 20+ years post-vasectomy and AMA PAIF / SAIF Welcome!

  • Oh wow good luck! I was going to do that once but then never could find the borax or whatever that one ingredient you need is. Anyway, I am new too!
Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.
  • Thanks!

Re: The Borax, did you check Wal-Mart or your local grocery store?  I found it at Kroger with the laundry detergent (though it was on the bottom shelf in a not easy to see location).

I'll post back and let you know how it goes...I'm pretty excited!

Re: Borax is sold at Target. You can also get it online at many places that have free shipping. A lot of hardware/Tractor Supply-type stores also have it if you live in a smaller town. I also use it to make my homemade dishwasher detergent, and one box lasts a long time!

I hadn't heard of that...I have a fairly large box of it...I'll be checking into that as well now!  :)

  • I love it-- for dishwashing soap (to be clear-- it's for the machines), I use 1 cup Borax, 1 cup baking soda, and then I get a container of citric acid (they sell it cheaply at Target-- called Citrishine or something similar) and add some after I put the former mixture into the machine. (I found that if I added the citric acid to the mix of Borax and baking soda, it causes the powder to clump).

  • That is good to know!  We're almost out of dishwasher soap, so I'll be making that next weekend.  :)  Thanks so much for the recipe!

  • Laundry soap is done!  It was really easy to make...I'll be using it next weekend, and am expecting some great results.  The only thing I'm worried about is DH's clothes.  He's a truck driver, and get pretty grimy sometimes...so I'm hoping it can cut the grease and get his clothes clean.  I've got a bottle of Simple Green on hand, and will keep a small bottle of store-bought detergent on hand just in case.

Hope you all had an amazing weekend as well!
