IFer with IFV kind of question about IVF - Lupron trigger

Hello experienced ladies -

I posted on PAIF about success with an antagon protocol and many of the women mentioned that they triggered with Lupron and that Lupron, as opposed to HCG (Ovidrel or whatever), doesn't cause OHSS even if you have many follicles.

I think I will be triggering with Lupron this next cycle (in June) - my doc left me a message that triggering will be different this time. (We're meeting face to face next week for our WTF and I will ask then.)

Why doesn't Lupron cause OHSS?

Looking for a nerd-tactular answer here. Geeked

It won't stop OHSS. It just keeps ur E2 from getting as high as the other triggers do.

You know, I was poking around the IFV site trying to find something like this but I thought I was crazy and didn't know where to look.

Bookmarked for future reference.

I did do some googling but I was looking for "antagon vs Lupron" and things like that so I never saw a good medical answer to my question.

I don't understand your Q on PAIF. You're looking for success stories from those who have had success with antagonist after a failed agonist cycle?

Lupron is used a couple of ways, for high responders and for low responders, so just saying Lupron users is not very clear. It's also used for suppression in DE or FET cycles. The short of it is, you can only use a Lupron trigger with an antagonist protocol.

Yes, you're correct in understanding my question. And I got the answers I was looking for.

I know Lupron could be used in a variety of ways. I used it this last cycle but not as a trigger.

I used it for IVF2 when my estrogen was like at 7000. I only had 6 eggs too:< But it did help not make it jump too much higer.

i triggered with lupron with my last IVF where i had 30 eggs retrieved...it was the only cycle that i did not get a form of OHSS. Before I triggered with ovidrel, HCG is linked to the flare of OHSS symptoms. The docs would NOT let me use ovidrel w/ my last cycle even though I swore I would NEVER, EVER put that demon drug in my body again. I'm glad I did because I felt wonderful afterwards. Other times I felt like my belly skin was going to rip apart!
