Oh Lord the pain of child birth

I know every woman says NO MORE KIDS after the birth...but i really think im serious...everyone says oh you'll forget the pain...no I don't think I will, I dont think I ever want to feel that again. Does anyone else think they're done just because of the pain? Also did anyone else scream like the exorcist during the birth? The doctor actually shushed me lol!

  • <<fellow Linda Blair here.

Now I see why people looked at me like I was BSC when I told them I was going med-free.

  • l seriously think l have PTSD from it. I couldn't sleep for days because l would relive it when l closed my eyes. I think what Leia suffered hurts my feelings more though. She was stuck and came out face first so her head was swollen, hip dislocated and just found out her clavicle is broken.

I couldn't sleep either. I couldn't push it out of my mind and felt like it was ptsd too. Glad I'm not the only one! It has gotten better and less traumatic every week. I can finally sleep without reliving the trauma.

I wouldnt do it again unless I knew for sure I would get an Epi. I went med free by accident bc the labor progressed too quickly.  I don't want to do that again.

  • yes i relive it too and feel like i cant possibly do it again. i screamed an awful lot. the midwife said for second babies the pushing usually is much faster, also maybe if i didnt have to do the pit induction the labor might be less intense.. if i can convince myself of these things perhaps i will have another..

but yeah, holy crap - never knew such pain existed. my 1-10  pain scale for things has changed now that i have a new reference point haha

  • With DS, I said there was no way I would do it again, but here I am with 2 kids. It was about 6 months pp and o got the baby fever and completely forgot even what a contraction felt like. This time, dh says we are done. I want 1 more. This pregnancy, labor, delivery, and pp recovery have been much easier than with DS. I had an epi both times but the first one stopped working right as I was going through transition.

  • My fiance says it was like watching the exorcist. I didn't handle labor well but I'd do it all over again.

  • I contribute all my calmness to hypnobabies. I didn't scream at all. I said *** a few times while pushing but I say *** a lot so it was nbd. I would go med-free again without a second thought next time around.

Mostly this. Hypnobabies rocked my world. I did scream a little during pushing, but then my MW told me I wasting my energy and I settled down after that. But I kind of know what pps are saying b/c a few times I got caught by a contraction when I wasn't using HB, and it was insanely painful.

  • I got an epidural at 2 cm and was STILL howling in pain at the end.  The doc and nurses insist I wasn't being that loud, but I was almost in tears and didn't know if I'd be able to finish getting the baby out.  They had to turn my epidural off so I could feel enough to push, and 3 hours later, I was still pushing and thirsty and starving and running a fever and miserable.

The first week after her birth, I tried to watch an episode of A Baby Story, and I just couldn't do it. I was too traumatized. lol. And I got the epi at 4 cm! But I think I'm okay now. As long as the epi works as well next time as it did this time.

During the whole labor and the first couple weeks after I kept saying to myself there's no way I'm doing this again! Plus she is a pretty good baby so maybe I should quit while I'm ahead. But now that I am feeling better and pretty well recovered I am totally starting to forget how bad it was. I can see how you could forget and want to do it again. And I really want her to have a sibling...some day!

  • My previous births were easy compared to the last one!  The laboring part was manageable...but OMG the pushing part was intense!!!  It felt wrong in so many ways!!!  I'm so disappointed my epi failed, I really could have used it.  My DH said I handeled it fine and I wasn't screaming, but I remember yelling out between pushes.  I was totally not myself at that point, I just wanted the pain to end!

  • I'd do it again. Not pushing for 5 hours would be nice but even with all that and no meds it wasn't as bad as I thought. I was joking through transition. It was painful but my first poop after my c-section (this birth was a vbac) was a million times worse as was getting up the first time after my surgery while I was still on heavy meds. So yeah give me a long med free vbac any day just keep me far away from the O.R.

  • WHEW! I wasent the only one. I only pushed for 35 mins BUT I felt it all since I let my epi wear off so I wouldnt be numb for pushing...Being a woman is just like being...dare I say AN AVENGER! lol
