the crib does nothing......

ok so her rock n play sleeper rocks and her bassinet vibrates and rocks

which is great in getting her to sleep now- BUT what happens when she goes to the crib??? the crib does nothing!!!

i try and put her in the crib sometimes to get her used to it- but as SOON as i lay her down, she could be OUT COLD in my arms- but as soon as i put her down in the crib- her eyes pop open and she's awake!!

how do you do the transition???

i play the "ocean" sound in her bassinet and i have the same "ocean" sound in her crib too- which i play- so she would know its sleepy time- but its not working

Re: the crib does nothing......

  • We put DS in his crib when we were ready to sleep train him around 5 months, so I knew there would be some crying involved anyways. It only took 2 nights and he has been a fabulous crib sleeper since then, and we'll be trying the same thing with DD. If you do put LO in something that has continuous motion like a swing or bouncy then it is advised to turn them off once the baby is asleep so they don't become dependent on the motion to stay sleeping.

  • This is partly why we skip sleeping in the swing and things like the RnP, after a few rough weeks he sleeps flat on his back in the bassinet without issue. With DD we found it was an easy transition from the bassinet to the crib because it was the same mode of sleep (ours doesn't rock or vibrate). It just takes perseverance and some loss of sleep on your part. I know this young it can be an issue of the space feeling big to them, something like a positioner or rolled up blankets tucked under them on either side may give a feeling of security. Swaddle, heat, white noise, and something that smells like you. A lot of people recommend sleeping with the crib sheets a few nights.

i want to try and sleep train at 6 weeks- i know thats young- but she's a really loud sleeper and her room is right next to ours- plus we have a video monitor. and i think that young- i cant really let her cry it out, right?

and with the rock and play and the bassinet- i have to physically rock it- so i stop once she's alseep and the vibrate does stop after 15 minutes..... so hopefully that takes care of the part of her becoming dependent on it.....
