Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Ahh... baby has been sleeping terrible the last week

It's crazy.  He is up so frequently!  He has always been a pretty good sleeper, even as a brand new newborn.  I don't mind if he wakes up a couple times, eats and goes back to sleep, but this is terrible.  Guess it is the "4 month wakeful period" everyone talks about.  Since this is my 3rd baby, I know these phases come and go, but it is torture when it is here.  And believe it or not, I don't remember this with my others... though I know it happened, it's in my journals... memory is a strange strange thing.  He turned 5 months yesterday, can someone let my LO know that waking up (and refusing to go right back to sleep) is so last month?

Re: Ahh... baby has been sleeping terrible the last week

  • My baby has been doing the same thing. Don't know if it's the 4-month wakeful (as it's my first and she's only turning four months on Friday) or something else. She doesn't nap well; she doesn't sleep well at night. It's insane, and she's getting overtired. I just keep trying to tell myself that nothing I'm doing is wrong, I'm doing the best I can to help her sleep and "this too shall pass."

Don't know if that helps, except knowing that someone else is going through it...and you probably don't even need that, since this is your third.

Absolutely, it is nice to know we aren't alone!

  • me too! she used to sleep six or seven hours.  last night, it was two or three at most.  during the day is awful too.  I spend all my nights and days getting her to sleep.
  • DD is our second, and I vividly remember going through this with our son. I was praying that Ruby would make it easier on us. Nope. With our son, we ended up doing sleep training at about 5.5 months. I'm counting the days until I feel like Ruby will be ready for a similar thing.

She'll only sleep next to me after being nursed to sleep, and she wakes up every hour or so, rooting around. She basically sleeps all night attached to my nipple. It's not cool. So not cool. And don't even get me started on naps.

So, no advice here... Just know you're not alone, and this too shall pass, and blah, blah, blah! :-)
