First ultrasound Friday... but not feeling pregnant.

I'm sure you ladies have heard this before, but for this being my first pregnancy I am starting to feel "not pregnant."  I had my first OB appointment two weeks ago, and during my pelvic exam the doctor said my uterus felt 8 or 9 weeks.  But now I am so nervous for my first scan on Friday.

Is it normal to be nervous like this?  I think I have heard too many horror stories of "missed miscarriages" and other traumatic events that now I've spooked myself.

Any advice?

Thanks..

  • I was the same way. I had my first US at 6weeks 3days and was terrified that there wouldn't be anything there. This is my first too and it's very unsettling when you don't know what to expect and read everything that can go wrong. The best advice I've received from the women on this board is to relax, enjoy it(especially if you're feeling good!) and enjoy each moment. When I finally had my US and saw baby and baby's HB I was so overcome with emotion and forgot all my worries.GL!

  • I know exatly how you are feeling.  I had ny first U/S at 6 weeks 4 days.  everything was fine.  My next U/S was at 10 weeks 4 days and to be honest with you I was not feeling pregnant either.  I am sure everything will be fine.  Don't worry and don't stress.

  • I echo everything above. First u/s at 6 weeks and 5 days then second u/s at 11.5 weeks. I was STRESSING around 8 or 9 weeks because I simply didn't feel "pregnant". Just be confident that your body is giving baby what it needs. Good luck tomorrow!! Keep us posted.

  • Hang in there!  It's normal for symptoms to come and go.  Mine went away at around 7w (about 5 days before my first u/s).  That made for a VERY long week.  When we went in for the u/s, there was a little flickering hb!  The symptoms returned shortly after and this week I started feeling way too good to be pregnant again so I called my dr.  Yesterday I went in and again, there was another hb that measured 163 bpm!  Try to stay calm. I think our LO's are just little troublemakers!

  • I know it's so hard not to worry.  With my first pg, other than missed periods and some minor stretching/cramping I had no symptoms.  I didnt have my first u/s till 11.5w and it took the tech so long to say anything that I was sure there was no baby in there.  The tech finally apologized and said "I'm sorry, your baby is super active and it is hard for me to get the required measurements.  They are so tiny and that is a good thing".  Then she turned the screen and I saw my little man for the first time.  Tears of joy, I tell you, tears of joy.  I hope you are just one of the lucky ones without horrible symptoms and that your little one is swimming away and flip flopping all around when you get your u/s.  Try not to worry-little to no symptoms does not mean anything is wrong.  ((HUGS)).

  • Happened to me right around the same point. Had an ultrasound today (12 wks) and everything looked good. You're at the point where your placenta is taking over, so it's probably just the natural progression.
  • I had a very similar post to this one a couple of weeks ago.  We got to see our L/O at about 7 weeks, and for about a day that calmed my nerves.  At about 9 or 10 weeks I just didn't feel pregnant anymore, I was just sure that I had no more symptoms, and that I had a missed miscarriage.  Hormones are a crazy thing like that.  So if it helps you at all, I felt EXACTLY like you did, and I just heard L/O's heartbeat today at 13 weeks.  So I am sure all is fine.. try to relax.  Oh, and try to remind me of that same thing when I am on here posting that I am worried again in a couple weeks ;-)
