Stroller Strides Franchise

Any of you mommies own a stroller strides franchise, or know someone who does? I've been thinking about it (there isn't one in my area) and have requested some info from SS, but wanted some first hand info.  I'm wondering what happens after the 4 years you're locked with your territory? Do you have to re-buy it? And I'm sure this varies a lot depending on different factors, but what can I expect as far as ROI, or approx monthly income? If you have any info it would be much appreciated!

I wouldn't do it. I had a friend who did it and she lost a lot of money. The lady she sold it to, also lost a lot of money and is currently trying to sell it.

There are all sorts of requirements and everything costs a lot to implement and some of the rules of it make it very hard to participate so it was not appealing to me as a customer. I would just offer your services to moms and create your own program that is similar that way you don't have to deal with all the corporate restrictions etc.

  • I participate in Stroller Strides out here and enjoy it.   Members here pay $55.00 dollars a month and you can buy a 10 class pass for $80.00.   The owner charges a registration fee of $75.00 which gets you a bag, T-shirt and the bands.   I don't know the lastest numbers but last year she had about 35 monthly members, and 10 classes a week at 3 different parks.  This year she has bought an adjacent territory and now has 16 classes a week at 4 parks.   I haven't been to all the parks but the ones I go to classes average about 3 to 6 people per class.   She also has about 7 instructors on payroll and I believe she pays them per class taught based on the number of students in the class, so the get more money the more students are in class.   I don't know how profitable it is but suspect after she pays out instructors it isn't that much money.  I think she could make more if she marketed better but I honestly don't know what she does for marketing.

  • I do!  And I would be willing to try and answer any questions that you might have :)  You can reach me at erinhoug@strollerstrides.net.

  • I owned one in Knoxville, TN for two years and then sold it in Jan 2010 to one of my members.  She is still going strong and even has some of the original members I started with in 2007. I sold it because I took a position with Stroller Strides corp., so you may find my response biased, but I would not have taken the job if I didn't have a wonderful experience with running my franchise.  Your success with it depends entirely on how much effort you put into the business - just like with anything you try!  I loved it!  Once you start going through the process of considering the franchise, you can call previous and existing franchisees to ask all those questions.  It's required by law for the company to provide you with the list of past and present frans.  You can do all that before you commit to anything on paper!  :)  Good luck!
  • Hi there,

I own a Stroller Strides franchise (almost 5 years) and I love it!  SS has given me the extra income I needed to be able to stay home with my girls, but it has also given me so much more than that.  I just love it and can't say enough good things about the corporate office- they are there to support you every step of the way.  One of the other posts mentioned that you should just do it on your own- but I can tell you that the national recognition that SS has is incredible and the support and training that you receive is amazing.  I have moms come to me from class who have a friend that goes somewhere else in the country- the word of mouth is great. On your own you would have to pay to develop a website, track attendance and packages, create print materials etc....you could spend a fortune. All of that is done with SS so you can hit the ground running.  The training that you receive as a pre/post natal fitness instructor is also invaluable.  Your specific questions about the contract, I can't really answer because I know things have changed since I bought mine- but I do believe that you can either renew your contract (for a lower price than originally paid) or choose to sell it.  Your monthly income depends on how many classes you offer, how many instructors that you have etc... it can be whatever you need it to be which is the great thing.  Some franchisees offer 3 classes a week, some offer 15- it's all at your discretion.

I hope that helps- feel free to contact me directly if you have any more questions!  I'm happy to share my experience jackied@strollerstrides.net (I'm in Chicago, IL).

  • Stroller Strides is wonderful!  Your success all depends on you.  Stroller Strides has more than enough tools and resources for you to utilize.  I have owned my franchise for 3 years and will renew my contract in June.  Aside from gaining extra income for my family, it is a program that I am thankful for each day as an owner, a mom and a member.

Definitely get as much information as you can before you make a decision.  Every success comes from hard work and it is totally worth it!
