So i was lying in bed and i soaked my underwear couldn't hold it in not pee it was water it wasn't a huge amount... then about 5 mintues later i soaked another pair but it wasn't tons and tons.. I called the labor line at my hospital and all she said was 90% of women whose water break go into labor within 24 hrs. she said put a pad on your water continues to leak doesn't stop. I've done this and gone through about 2 pads but no contractions.. Not sure if i should go to hospital or when.. don't want to sit around there when i could be at home. So im just chilling at home until i get contractions... and or a bucket of water comes.
This all seems so surreal i don't believe it.. i'm scared for the contractions also still in disbelief but i am continuing to leak totally wondering what to expect next when i should go to the hospital and daddy is freaking out hahaha
Re: water leaking? 90% chance of a baby
My Dr told us to go to the hospital when your water breaks- mainly because they need to monitor the situation in terms of the baby being no longer protected from germs... She had a woman whose water broke and didn't go to the hospital( due to no contractions) and they had a major septic situation as a result. I am a FTM though do I could be being paranoid...
I'm surprised too. Water breaking is usually a pretty big indicator that baby is coming, contractions or not. I'd call back. Keep us posted!!
Agreed. Very surprised they didn't tell you to just come in to L&D. Best of luck to you!
Yeah, I was always under the impression to go in once your water breaks. I guess each hospital and doc is different.
Granted this was 16 years ago, but with DD I had a slow leak. Since slow leaks can seal themselves, they sent me home. That was at 36w, and she was born at 40. If it breaks in a gush or is constantly pouring out, my sister, they'll usually have you come in.
I agree with all of the PP...Get your booty to the hospital. I would especially be concerned about your GBS status and staying at home and say--being a stop and drop and your baby not getting the needed doses of antibiotics prior to delivery. (granted you may be GBS-)
I wouldn't be waiting around, I would be going to get Nitrazined (test to see if water has actually ruptured).
This.. I would go in... it really does sound like it was your water...
GL and keep us posted!

I'd wait. With DS I wet my underwear a couple of times and the Dr did the fern test to confirm it was amniotic fluid so I went to the hospital.
Turns out you can sometimes have an outer pocket of fluid on the amnoitic sac that can break and that's what happened to me. My water had not actually broken. Luckily DS was born the same day, but at the hospital they used pitocin to get things started. I would have rather labored at home.
You should be fine hanging out until contractions start to be regularly, especially if that's what the nurse recommended. My water broke right before a doctor's appointment last time. I went up to my doctor and she confirmed my water was broken. I told her I would go to the hospital immediately if she wanted but I would rather go home get my stuff and DH. I wasn't dialated so she let me go home. I went home showered, got DH and we headed back to the hospital. I still wasn't having contractions by the time we got there. It took about 9 hours from the time my water broke to the time my contractions started. I'd much rather have spent that time at home then the hospital.
Just remember nothing in the vagina. It is really important if they want to do a cervical check when you get to the hospital that they use sterile and not out of box gloves. Cervical checks can introduce infections when the water is broken which you want to avoid. Good luck
With my first my water broke suddenly and in a gush and the nurse got mad at me for not calling the doctor's "emergency" line when she finally got back to me about three hours later (I was at Walmart with the hubby picking up some last-minute stuff). I honestly didn't realize water breaking was considered an "emergency" to OBs - I thought it was all part of the process.
Call your doc and see what they say. If they're cool with you waiting, then wait. But the labor line at the hospital doesn't know the ins and outs of your health situation.
Thanks everyone! I did end up going in shortly after that post and did misunderstood i was supposed to go in right away well many hours later she came! 11:57 am
Thank goodness that part is over! now for the nights of no sleep
