My Mom is named Susan, which means Lily of the Valley. I am Heather. If we have a girl, I am entertaining the thought of using a flower name to make it a tradition of sorts.
Lily and Rose are names of good friends of mine, so those are out. Daisy is my best friend's dog, so that would be weird. lol The only name I can get DH even remotely on board with is Violet.
Can you please give some more suggestions of names of flowers, or that are associated with nature?
MN would probably be Anne or Geneva (both family names).
Thanks!

Love Flora.
When I was pregnant w/DD, we told everyone that her name would be Snapdragon (the most awesome of the flower names).
Azalea
Aster
Poppy
Lavender
Jacinda

I LOVE Poppy and Lavender. DH said Poppy is atrocious and reminds him of saying "Papi" (a nn for a male). Lavender is a good middle name for us, but, we need girl names like we need a hole in our heads!
Flower names are gorgeous...gl!
Thanks so much, everyone!

I found a nice long list of botanical names on nameberry awhile back. I'd also recommend searching for names like your mom's (names that don't initially sound botanical, but have botanical meanings). Some less-common ones:
Jacinta (Spanish version of Hyacinth. Cynthia might also be tied to these names?)
Ianthe
Susannah (means lily, similar to Susan but a little different?)
Azalea
Dahlia (my fave flower name)
Rosalie (perhaps too close to Rose)
Camellia
Calanthe
Flora
Iris
Jasmine
Lilac
Magnolia (nn Maggie?)
Marigold (nn Mari?)
Samantha (has possible meaning of "flower" based on the Greek word)
Sharon
Zinnia
