We are having a little girl (yay!) and going to start decorating the nursery soon. My tastes are just not overly "girly" ie too much pastel pink. I would actually like it to look a bit modern...any pink would probably be more of a bright/hot pink than "baby" pink...and definitely more of an accent than the main color.
DH likes this set...I do too, but is it hard to decorate a girl's nursery with NO pink at all? This probably seems like a stupid question to all the team green-ers...I guess my question is - has anyone been team pink and done a non-pink (or very little pink) nursery, and can share some ideas or resources?
Re: Modern nursery decor?
We are team blue but I had this picked out if we were team pink (I am not a fan of pink or the animal prints)
I believe it's Cocalo brand.
The best thing to do is to pick out the set you like without pink and use those colors as the main theme for the room. I think it is absolutely possible to have a room with no or little pink for a girl, and I hate baby pink too. My walls are actually aqua and I have hot pink accents throughout the room, I really like the modern look too. My nursery isn't done but here is picture where you can see the direction I'm taking it :
ProjectNursery.com is a really great resource if you need help with designing it: https://bit.ly/KXvpNr
OH I loved that one at Buy Buy Baby (yes, same brand as the one in my OP)...We just don't want black baby furniture. Our bedroom furniture is black now, and it's SO hard to find bedding for it (most seems to be designed for brown furniture)...if we get a convertable crib I want her to keep it a while and us not having issues tracking down cute kids bedding for a black bed in a few years, like we have. I agree though, that is the cutest set from Cocalo by far!
There are a ton of options out there right now for non-pink nurseries.
This where we got our bedding/inspiration: https://www.babybedding.com/girl-crib-bedding
We did use the Love Birds, which has pink in it, but there are lots of pretty non-pink options. My other choice with DD was Yellow, Aqua and Navy.
These were two of my inspiration pics:
I also really like the bedding you posted.
We were getting an expresso colored crib whether it was a boy/girl. I think this set would look good with expresso or a cream crib
Do they even make cream cribs? I haven't seen it in person but I fell in love with it online. If we ever have a girl this will be the one if it's still around
We bought this bedding set: https://ab.pkimgs.com/pkimgs/ab/images/dp/wcm/201149/0002/img55l.jpg
We're going to do soft yellow walls and espresso furniture. I'll probably also do some aqua accents (like spray painting picture frames for the artwork we put in).
I'm all about gender nuetral for either sex. When we found out it was a girl, nothing changed. I was going to paint the walls a gray color but I like the look of the already pale blue/gray walls. So I'm keeping that and going with nuetral colors for everything else. Like pp said, we'll have pp giving us pink stuff so there will be pink in the room but it won't be overly girly.
Something like this... just pops of color, no theme. (except for the hand wall thing, that's just creepy).

We're not doing a theme, really, just colorful and whimsical. It's easier if you avoid "room in a box" type sets, although I do like the look of the one you linked there.
I bought some art off Etsy, the furniture will be painted white wood and a beige rocker, and pulling in colorful accents through the art and other small accents.
I also wanted to find girl nursery bedding that wasn't so overwhelmingly pepto bismol pink, but I went with this one because I wanted to be able to have pink accents that work with the design. The crib sheet, skirt and curtains will be sage green and white and the pink will sneak in on the changing pad cover, kids' chair, and wall decal.

Coral is pretty close to pink, but I'm thinking about painting my nursery light greenish blue if we have a girl and accenting with pops of coral

We picked out paint last night and it's blue. Like a teal blue. We're using a hot pink as an accent color, but just for sheets and the frames on the wall. Other than that, I'm using this blue color, black and white. Furniture is all black, rug is white and my Mom is making the bedding white with black polka dots and stripes. I wanted to do a plum color, but my DH convinced me that our room is too dark for a dark color on the main wall.
Good luck!!

This room is my nursery inspiration too! DH refinished a couple old dressers we had in a similar but slightly darker aqua color and we are going to do the grey walls with white wainscoting.

I'm using teal, gray and purple. NO pink for me!
I love this blog for inspiration. https://laybabylay.com/

Super cute set! I love the colors together! I honestly hate when people find out their having a girl and immediately find everything pink to put in the nursery! Just because your having a girl doesn't mean it has to be so feminine it throws up pink. If you love the set use it! I think its gender neutral for your baby girl so you can girly it up with art, stuffed animals etc....
@RachelOC I love your nursery! Where did you get your birch tree decals...I have been looking everywhere and they are all pretty spendy!
@ShopperKristi
Thank you
DH actually painted that by hand. All the decals I looked up were over a hundred dollars and I wasn't sure the height would be right for our room. I would recommend hand painting if you can. I am going to put on owls and twitter birds in various colors this weekend.
Here is the inspiration I think he used from etsy: https://etsy.me/K4M1B9
Nice! You are lucky to have such a talented DH! My hubby would probably keel over if I asked him to try that haha. Maybe I can con an artistic friend into it - I definitely can't see spending a few hundered on decals! Thanks for the tip!
