Baba/gaga/dada is pretty much all my LO has been saying for a couple months now. Every baby is different. We don't have any vowels going on here besides the A's.

We had lots of weird sounds and vowels until just before 11 months. Now he says ba, ga, and ka (and in triplicate usually).
We were starting to worry about it, but he was ahead in all other areas of development so the pedi suggested just waiting until he was a year old and re-assess. She said if he's concentrating on motor skills (like walking at 9 months!) that he's probably just not interested in talking, so he's not learning to talk.
One day it was like the lightbulb went off. You could see him stop and concentrate on making the sounds, and do it multiple times in a row. He went from no consonants to 3 new "words" in a week. He still isn't using any sounds as words yet, but now that he's making progress in that area I'm relaxing about it and going to try to just let him learn at his own pace for now.
Thanks, AmyR - - your post made me feel a lot better, because my LO is ahead in motor skills and advancing every day - we will have a walker soon. Hopefully he is just focused on that and he'll start babbling any day now.
We do have an assessment set for later this month just to be sure.
Was it just out of nowhere or was he imitating you? Were you worried? Glad to hear your LO is babbling!
out of nowhere! I've been saying mama dada a lot but then he came out with gaga. I also took his paci away during the day and that could have helped? idk the pedi said it was normal when i took him in for his 9 month check up

No consonants here either. Just lots of "ahhh"s and screaming and screeching and squealing and laughing and grunting.
This pretty much here too. She will do "mmmmm" but not with any vowels at all. My doc is more concerned with the no consonant-vowel match. Still just crawling and will only occasionally pull up to her knees. Trying to do my best to know she will be fine.
My dd will say da da and mama. When she was like 7 months old she liked to say ba ba but I haven't heard it since. Usually it's just a lot of daaaaaaada, mama, and screeching haha.
DS wasn't saying mama, dada, baba at his 9 month check up when the pedi asked if he was. I was a bit concerned but DS proved me wrong once again. At 9-10 months he started saying those thing. I would suspect your LO to start saying them shortly.

This is almost exactly DS. He's walking now but only says "Ra" "Ba" and "Da" infrequently. Pedi scheduled an appointment for Early Intervention at his 9 month because he wasn't saying any consonants at all and later that day he just looked at me and said, "Rarararabababa" (little stinker!!) We still went to the developmental assessment, who said that he was likely just so focused on motor skills that the language would come later and no intervention was needed at the time.
