Anyone Still Have a Crawler?

Giselle doesn't want to walk, I swear!  She prefers to crawl, she has gotten real good at it and can get to her destination real fast.  When You try to hold her hands so she can walk, she'll take a few steps then drop to her knees.  LOL!

Anyone else still has a non-walker?

Re: Anyone Still Have a Crawler?

  • Yes. She crawls and cruises. She can let go of things and stand for a few seconds, but she doesn't walk independently.

  • Punky will only take a few steps at a time and she falls on her butt. She cruises around like a pro on her walker toy. I think it's a confidence thing.

I actually just posted on my blog the other day that when people ask if she's walking and I say no it's like they feel bad for me. I'm really not concerned. She won't be crawling on her wedding day ;)

  • I've got a crawler and a walker. Owen is a little speed demon when it comes to crawling. He can stand independently for short periods of time and we got 2-3 steps from him a few days ago but he's in no hurry to walk. Amelia on the other hand has been walking for a month and a half and practically runs down the hall.

  • My son is still a crawler/cruiser.  I give him about a month, and then I think he will start walking.

Crawler here.  Andrew has shown little to no interest in walking.  He crawls very fast so maybe he doesn't feel the need.  I'm not worried.

  • Jack is still crawling, but I am Ok with it. When he starts walking it just opens up a whole new world of NO!   And I keep saying he won't be crawling to college so we are all good!

  • DD#1 didn't walk until she was almost 14 months old. It was a total confidence thing for her. She still doesn't like to do something until she is 100% sure she is going to do it and be good at it. She started to run days after she started walking.

DD#2 started to walk at 9 months old. I think she walked out of sheer determination to keep up with her sister.  She fell so much more and got so beat up compared to her sister.

I would take a crawler any day. DD#2 is now learning to climb. I came around the corner to find her on top of the kids table clapping for herself yesterday. I put her down only to have her climb back up the chair and on to the table. OY!

  • A walker is no fun (well it is but like others have said, with that comes lots more trouble!).  My DS walked at 9 months and he now runs like a maniac around the house...enjoy your crawler for a little longer ;)
  • Linus has NO interest in walking. It's insane how fast he can crawl when he's chasing the cats though. :P He's finally pulling up but doesn't even show an interest in cruising. He'll pull up on your hands but if you try and get him to take a step he just collapses. I was enjoying the crawling and not walking until he started pulling up (and falling) on everything. I've baby-proofed as much as possible, but he's hurting himself so much. Now I just wish he would get steadier and learn how to walk or at least stand without falling! It's like the same in between phase as when he just learned how to sit up but was still toppling.

Chase is still crawling, pulling up and cruising.  He has just started letting go and standing on his own.  I suspect he will be walking soon, but then again, he could decide to hold off on that for a while longer.

  • Let me just say that I sort of envy you ladies with crawlers. I have a crazy daredevil baby. Liam can climb up the steps on the slide! (I had NO idea toddlers can do that.) A few weeks ago, he looked at me, stood up on the couch, smiled a wicked little smile, then LEAPT off the couch and promptly landed on his head.

He's been walking since 11 months, and it's pure craziness, I tell you!

Speed crawler here. She will also stand and take a couple of steps to get to the ottoman when she's standing by the couch but that's about it.

I'm in no rush, really. Big Smile

Yep, B still only crawls. She cruises on furniture like a pro and I feel like she's pretty close to taking those first steps but she's just not confident on her own two feet just yet.

  • LO only crawls and cruises. He was a late preemie, so I don't worry. He only started cruising after he turned one. He isn't even fast at crawling.

Not only do i have a speed crawler but Sammy prefers to walk on his knees. And he's fast especially chasing his brother. He does walk with assist but drops to his knees or crawls after a short time. I think he's just impatient and knows what works for him. Cuz he has places to go! Lol

Jules is still crawling/cruising and I'm not rushing it! It's funny the things you learn after baby #1...with DS I couldn't wait for him to walk. Now with J I'm praying we can get to 15 months without her walking. She actually took her first 4 independent steps on her bday and I was secretly thinking "Oh god not yet!" Once they're fully mobile, that's it.

  • Yup! Kalyn can walk if she wanted to but prefers to crawl. She is cruising on furniture and will stand for a few seconds but refuses to walk!

  • DD only started crawling like 3 weeks ago. She cruises like mad and crawls all over, but no walking yet. DS didn't walk til 15 months, though, so I'm really not concerned.

  • My twins are still crawling.

One will take steps when you hold her hands.

DS does not have any interest in walking at all.

Both will cruise around the furniture.  T

hey were 7 weeks premature, so I am not worried.

I am actually glad they are not walking yet because I don't know how I'm going to keep up. lol.

  • ha mine isn't even crawling yet.... and i'm not worried. she shuffles, belly circles.... but she no crawl. both dh and i were late movers (my dad didn't know when but knows i was late, and dh was 14 mos for crawling and 18 mos for walking). dr isn't worried, and i get to relax a little longer.
  • Yeppers! Little man will take maybe one or two steps between things. If I try to get him to walk to me, he'll drop to the floor and crawl over. I'm just happy he still wants to play with mom. :)
  • Not walking here. Last night, he finally had the confidence to stand alone for an extended period of time. Normally he just holds on to the furniture when he's standing. I wish he would walk--hes so heavy that going anywhere is a beating. At least I'll have nice biceps, though :P

This, my dear, is why I wrap Giselle on my back & keep it moving.  The girl is heavy & I need to be able to do things with my hands free!Big Smile

  • Olivia is cruising everywhere and crawling so fast, but still hasn't taken any steps yet. She'll happily walk when I hold her hands, though. My oldest daughter walked around 14-15 months, so I'm guessing she'll start around the same time.

Like others said, I'm in no hurry, because keeping up with 2 busy (mobile) LO's is a task in itself. :)

  • I've got a butt scooter, and he is FAST! He will walk while holding one finger, but the moment we let go, he's on his butt. I'm not worried...lots of moms have told me their LOs didn't walk until 15 months...though I was concerned at first when his buddy (born 4/1) was walking at 8 months! I'm more afraid now at what he can get himself into when he walks because he gets into everything scooting!
