Has anyones husband has success with meds to produce sperm?

Hi there, we recently found out that my husband does not produce any sperm. He had surgery 2 weeks ago and they confirmed that there is absolutely nothing. The doc mentioned trying a medicine to produce some.... I just dont see how it is possible. If he has never had any, how is a medicine going to create some?

.... I am not even sure if this is the correct place to post this question. If not, could someone point me in the right direction? :)

  • my DH had Non-Obstructive Azoo, he had various surgeries and tooks meds and ultimately nothing worked to produce sperm.  we moved onto a donor.

what type of surgery did he have?

and there is an Azoo check-in on Weds for other ladies with similar d/x's so you can join and get support there.

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

  • Thank you! I can never find the azoo check in .....

my  husband had the MESA(?) surgery. They looked in two spots and said there was nothing at all. they are now suggesting we try medicine, and i understand my husband wanting to try whatever he can, i just don't see how its possible!

  • honestly, after our mTESE we were done.  no amount of meds was going to make sperm be there when there wasn't any before.

i don't want your DH to keep doing things that most likely will not produce sperm.  if he does decide to try meds i would rec tying next surgery to an IVF cycle and having a donor back up if you are open to using a donor.

  • The meds only help if the issue is due to hormonal inbalance.  Not the case of my DH's azoo...so not an option for us.
