Bubbles?

We've been putting DD in the bath tub big-girl-style Wink and we put a few toys in there, but I've been thinking about adding bubbles. Is this bad? Do you use them, and if so what brand?

Congrats Starbuck :y & HHB on their sweet baby boys!
Lots of love & luck to Mdluv & Zook

Re: Bubbles?

  • We put ds in the big tub too and bubbles would be fun! I'd like to hear suggestions too. Or if it's a bad idea.

  • Not sure if this will give enough bubbles in the big tub but we always add 3 capfuls of Aveeno baby soap and shampoo directly to the running water when we fill up the baby tub. It produces quite a bit of bubbles and I don't have to worry because that is the soap we use to wash him anyway. If it were me I would stay away from any chintzy brand like Mr. Bubble. I only say this because I used to break out in terrible rashes from Mr. Bubble when I was little so I am a little hesitant to use that brand or similar brands.

Bubbles strip the vagina of natural bacteria, leading to infections. Including UTIs. If you look on the bubble bath bottles it even says something about avoiding prolonged contact or about it causing irritation or something.

  • Totally never thought about that. Thanks ladies! No bubbles for her :)

  • We use Burt's Bees bubble bath for our son which I really like, but bathe DD separately without bubbles for the reason that was specified above.

  • When E was old enough to sit and play without me hovering (sometime between 12 and 18 months) I would wash him first then add bubbles for him to play in. We'll probably do the same with Lo. I personally have never had an issue with bubble baths but I know some people are more prone to UTI's. We'll stop the bubbles if they become a problem but I don't leave the kids in the tub that long because for some reason bathing them is my least favorite thing.
  • And with E we always just used Mr Bubbles.
