Hi Ladies,
It has been a while since I have been on this site. I am hoping that maybe you can help me. I am a twin and have been fascinated with twins. I think that part of it has to do with the relationship that my brother and I have. I am doing a research paper on twins and their secret language. I was hoping that some of you could help me with that. I have always heard stories from my family about how my brother and I had our own language and how we were able to talk to each other long before we could talk.
I am just curious if any of you MoM's have noticed anything similar to this. I have done some research and they say that the secret language does not exist, but rather it is an act of them mimicking each other.
If you would like to share stories or your thoughts, please email me at j_c_cortez2004@yahoo.com
Thank you for your help!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Re: Research Paper.... please read
It's called idioglossia. My kids aren't talking yet, but from what I understand it really isn't a completely made up language. It's more that they mispronounce words, and the feedback they give each other causes a cycle of comprehension of mispronounced words and in more extreme cases the twins are the only ones that can understand what they're saying.
Here's a wikipedia article about it:
