Question about when you are done with RE

I tried to make this post a poll, but for some reason my polls never post!

Anyway, I have noticed a few "we are done" posts lately. I was just wondering how far some of you would go to have a baby?

- When you are done with your course of action with RE, does it all stop there?

- Would you adopt?

- Would you consider an egg donor / sperm donor?

- Would you use try a surrogate?

- Other? (Please explain)

Sometimes I just don't know where I would draw the line! Although content with DD, I do want another baby.

- Would you adopt? No

- Would you consider an egg donor / sperm donor? No

- Would you use try a surrogate? No

- Other? (Please explain) I would consider an IVF study if all costs were covered. Our insurance has run out, so we are out of options financially. But, I would try IVF if it were covered.

Sometimes I just don't know where I would draw the line! Although content with DD, I do want another baby.

I don't know. I don't think any of the options other than carrying my own biological child (DH and mine) are right for me. I think it works for so many people, it's just my own personal hang-up. DH is totally in favor of adoption- even if we didn't have issues. All I know is that we will have an answer this year. We're going to exhaust everything- 3 IUI's and as many IVFs as insurance will cover- probably 2 and then go from there.

- When you are done with your course of action with RE, does it all stop there? most likely yes, as far as a bio-child

- Would you adopt? yes, this has always been a consideration for us, but we wanted to have a few biological children first

- Would you consider an egg donor / sperm donor? no, if we have a child I want it to be biologically ours, otherwise adoption is a better choice for us...also insurance doesn't cover donor sperm/egg

- Would you use try a surrogate? no, would rather adopt

- Other? (Please explain) We are planning on trying a few IUI cycles, right now we are not considering IVF

- When you are done with your course of action with RE, does it all stop there? Like Lil, we won't prevent (at least not until we hit 40) but we won't "try".

- Would you adopt? Today, the answer is no. May change in a year though - have lots of healing to do first, plus more research in international adoption...

- Would you consider an egg donor / sperm donor? No, because that's not my issue.

- Would you use try a surrogate? No, again, would not address the reason for my IF. If it did, I would jump at the idea of a surrogate.

- Other? (Please explain) Nothing, really. It looks like we will have to learn to live with only one if treatment does not work out.

I had trouble posting a poll too - you have to have something in the message part of it. I think that's what I was missing when it didn't work.

- When you are done with your course of action with RE, does it all stop there? Yes, for us. IVF is not covered by our insurance and I don't think we could afford more than one attempt.

- Would you adopt? I think so but we'd have to discuss further. I think I would consider international adoption before domestic.

- Would you consider an egg donor / sperm donor? Nope. I don't think I could carry a child that wasn't 100% ours. Not to mention, we have unexplained infertility so I'm not even sure either would make a difference.

- Would you use try a surrogate? No. I REALLY love being pregnant and I think I would be jealous of someone else carrying my child. There is also no reason I can't carry my own child, aside from the fact DH's 20 million+ sperm can't figure out where to go. :-) My neighbor, who I'm pretty close friends with, once casually offered to carry a child for us if we couldn't get pregnant. It took me completely off guard so I don't even think I responded. It was an odd thing to suggest, especially since we don't have any known reason for our IF. I certainly couldn't live next door to someone carrying our baby!

- When you are done with your course of action with RE, does it all stop there? IUI is where we are stopping.. My doctor thinks all we need is IUI since everything is seems "normal"

- Would you adopt? I have thought of it but hubby isn't on board

- Would you consider an egg donor / sperm donor? No its not a problem we have .. we want a biological child if possible

- Would you use try a surrogate? No

No to all of that. If my time with my RE doesn't work, we're done. No adoption, no surrogate, no nothing, just living out life and chillin' with DD.
