Flew Out of the Tub!

Who knew a 36+5 pregnant woman could move so fast? I was taking a nice bath to cure my newest pregnancy issue...wake up at 1:30 with BH and can't go back to sleep. Then, I saw a spider wriggling in the tub. I flew out and drained the water. I don't think I've EVER gotten out of a tub that fast. I made sure he spiraled down TW drain. So much for relaxing enough to go back to sleep. Now I'm paranoid I've been bitten somewhere.

Note: I live in Texas. There are more deadly spiders here than good ones. And, who wants to get close enough to tell the difference?

  • That's super funny. Did you have any RLP from it. If I move too fast in bed changing position, I get the worst RLP. I love taking a bath, but trying to get out of the tub is almost not worth the relaxing time in the tub. All I think when I'm wiggling to get up is that I really need a crane!

  • YUCK! I don't mess around with spiders. Here in New York they're mostly ugly but I don't think most of them are dangerous enough to kill you, nut they can leave some nasty bites.

Did you make sure he was really gone?? There's been a few times where I have rinsed spiders down the drain in my kitchen or bathroom just for them to come crawling back up a few minutes later. *shudders*

Yikes!  I had a similar experience the other day when getting into the shower.  It was early and I wasn't really awake yet, but as soon as I saw a spider in the tub I jumped up and out.  I pulled a muscle in my inner thigh and limped around for the rest of the day, but better than sharing a shower with a spider.  ugh!!

I don't fool around with flushing them or vacuuming them... if it's in my house it's gone.  Especially now that DS likes to sing "the itsy bitsy spider"...  those damn things keep crawling up the water spout!

  • I'm so glad I live in NY where they are almost all harmless!  I like spiders not in the house but they don't bother me, I'd go crazy if I had to worry about good and bad ones.

  • I thought you were going to say you flew out of the tub because your water broke...Haha.  But yes, a spider is a great reason to do that.  Yuck!

  • Yesterday I used the restroom at work and when I stood up there was a fly in the toilet! I was very thankful it was a fly and not something that bites! I didn't want to explain that to my OB/GYN :)

Lol, I actually didn't have any. I think it was adrenaline that got me moving. It was a small brown spider, and I was more concerned with a brown recluse. My hands and wrists are paying for it now, tho.

    LMAO! Sorry. Anyways....

First, this is definitely not a post to read when you first get up & are eating breakfast! Lol! I hate spiders. The last one we had was crawling on the bathroom floor & I placed a candle on it & told DH to take care of it. Once (a very long time ago) I was in the shower & the biggest moth I had ever seen came out of no where. It was trying to do some weird crawl up the side of the tub, but it was wet so it was having trouble. I ran out soaking wet to grab the flyswatter. By time I got back it was gone. Must of went down the drain. *shivers*

  • OMG that's too funny!!!  Hope you were able to get back to sleep.  Next time try some warm milk!!!  LOL!!!

  • You know I can't say that I have seen a spider since I left Texas. Or a snake or a frog or lizard. I doubt the bath did you any good on going back to sleep I agree with pp next time try milk
