Never trust your dog around your baby! I've read a few stories like this over the years.

I've also read you shouldn't let your baby near your dog unattended until they are like 8 years old. You never know what your dog might do.
I already worry about our dog around children, so we're definitely going to be boarding her for the day during the 1st b-day party. Who knows what the extra stress of lots of people around will make the dog do. In the end they are animals, not humans.
Re: Sad news story: 1st b-day tradegy with dog
This is a very sad story. You have to be so careful with large dogs (well, any dog) and kids. Like PP said, when you know you are going to have company and a higher stress environment it's best to have the dog in a seperate room or out of the house for the day.
I am currently taking a course to become a Dogs & Storks presenter for my area so that I can help educate families with new babies and young children the importance of proper training, preventative measures and supervision.
Interesting. I didn't know a program like this existed. What are some of the training techniques?
https://familypaws.com/category/uncategorized/ Here is the website for the group. I've talked at length with Jennifer (the creator of the program) and it seems to be a great thing. It's well set up, lots of resources, and very informative.
