FemVue HSG

Has anyone had this test? I had a horrid experience with my regular HSG 3 years ago (which wasn't done by my RE but by an incompetent radiologist bc my RE had to cancel last minute due to an emergency). I'm having the FemVue done today, by my RE, so I expect it won't be nearly as bad, but i'm still nervous bc of last time.

Re: FemVue HSG

  • hi cutie -

i didn't have this but my HSG was AWFUL, done by dumb ass radiologist.

i'm sure this experience will be better than last time and i'm praying it's over quickly!

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.

  • I have also never had it but my HSG was painful.  I cried the whole time and the drive home.  I hope this one is not painful and all looks well!  Good luck!!

  • i don't think I had this type, but I was apparently one of the very lucky ones whose HSG experience was not horrible.  It was uncomfortable and awkward, but for some blessed reason not painful (and i had at the time partially blocked tubes).  On the other hand I wanted to be shot during my endo biopsy, that was unbearable and I cried through the whole thing.  I have my fingers crossed for you that this 2nd time around is WAY easier!!   Take a handful of Advil about 1/2 hour before the procedure!  (ok, 4 ;-))  I wonder if you could take a valium also?  I sound like a drug pusher.
  • Never heard of it but like worms, my HSG WAS PAINFUL. My IVF RE wants me to do an SHG, which I hear is not as bad but my ute hurts to even type it out.

    I remember you too. :)

    What does SN stand for?

    Update:

The FemVue is great. I mean, it was still crampy, and I was sore afterwards, but nowhere near the amount of pain I had with the HSG 3 years ago, where I was bleeding, etc.

Instead of dye and xray, the FemVue uses saline and then air injected into the saline which creates bubbles you can follow on u/s. It was fast, and not very painful at all.

I can't believe I have a calendar and I'm on my way to doing this again.
