Anyone on here Episcopal?

I'm seriously thinking about checking out the Episcopal church near us; they even host a Resolve support group (I haven't been yet but I may go).  I was born & raised Catholic; still practice but have been questioning if I really belong there anymore after all I've gone through.  I know Episcopals are basically a more liberal minded version of Catholicism but I'd like to know more about them from someone who is actually active in the church.

  • I converted from catholic to episcopal and you are right, it is basically a liberal minded catholic faith. There are some other differences. The reverends can be women, gay, married, etc... They are a lot more open minded about ART as well. I really liked my church mostly because of how supportive they are to those in their congregation and the entire community.

One of the reverends @ the place near me is openly gay with a long term partner; the other is a married woman.

  • Converted Episcopal here. Born and raised Southern Baptist converted because I love the combination of tradition and the open mindedness about 12 years ago.

My mom likes to call it "Catholic Lite". I can answer all kinds of questions and if I don't know the answer I can ask hubby who has been in the church his whole life.

  • Born and raise. In fact, my grandfather was an episcopal bishop.  Both my mom and sister are married to episcopal priest. (2nd and 3rd marriage) for each of them. So as u can see, it's pretty liberal compared to the catholic church.

Openly gay preists, and women priest...which I firmly support.

Also my stepfather married us IN VEGAS!  Can't get more liberal than that.
