This is the first post I have opened all day about JS's baby. The first thing that popped into my head after reading the title of your post was "Poor child they are going to call her maxi pad"...and THEN I read your post. I am 29.

I believe that's how many are or were advertised. There are mini pads and there are maxi pads. Maxi for the heavy flow days. At least that's how they were referred to back in my day (I'm...and oh lord this is the first time I typed this...39).

really? mini and maxi pads? wow you learn something new everyday.
ETA: Curiosity got the best of me. According to Wikipedia it's just maxi....no mini.
I've never seriously called them maxi pads but I have heard them referred to as that and I definitely think pad when I hear maxi. I'm 25. Oh and I thought maxi was the brand or something, lol!

I never say Maxi pad - it's just pad (well technically tampon because I do not use pads!) But the first thing I thought when I saw the NN Maxi was stripper - then maxi pad.
I call them pads but I know they're called "maxi pads" so that's the first thing that popped in my head when I heard Maxi. I'm going to be 28 in a few months.
Yup, my first thought was Maxi pad. I'm 32. Although I don't use the term, it still sticks in my head. I also thought it was a particular brand. Oh and I just call them pads. But her age group probably won't know what a maxi pad is, although her friends parents may be snickering.

Actually Jessica was born in July 1980, so she's almost 32 and the same age group as you. I'm almost 32 as well and I have heard the term too.

By her age group I was referring to the baby not Jessica oh and I'm now posting with my new name.

This exactly. My reply was going to be that it was a generational thing.

https://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Maxipad Sorry I am a sucker for trivial bits of information. I research the dumbest things

And I'm 30 - so roughly your age.
When we decided to name DS2 Maximilian, I really hoped no one in school would ever call him maxi pad. But most people I know now call them pads.
I think Maxi might have once been a brand of feminine napkins.
