I had to go in today for a follow-up to my 19 week ultrasound because they saw a small build-up of fluid in the baby's intestines. They were expecting that it would be gone when they looked today, but it was not.

It is a little bigger, but about the same size. They said that it could be an intestinal blockage or a cyst. I, of course, have googled and found outcomes anywhere from everything should be fine to fetal death. Since my ob cannot determine exactly what it is, he is sending me to a high risk ob to have them do another ultrasound to see if they can diagnose it. This kid isn't making life easy for us. First it took us two years just to get pregnant with her in the first place and now it looks like she will have us worried probably for the remainder of the pregnancy (what seems like a very long 19 weeks). I did ask the doctor if I should try not to get attached and he said that he thought it would be okay to get attached and that he was sure I already was attached. I am. *sigh*

Re: Update
Thoughts and prayers for you! I remember when they told me my 16 week blood work came back showing a good indication DD had down syndrome, waiting for the level 3 ultrasound was the worst thing ever but it turned out to be a false positive.
Fingers crossed it is all ok!

I know how scared you are right now. Have faith that it will be okay. I'm sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way. Hope you are worrying for nothing. Just remember doctors can do amazing things for babies these days.
My DD had a blood test come back that indicated a risk of her being born with her spine exposed. She ended up being just fine, I am hoping that is the case with your little one. And I agree be careful with Google, it can sometimes make you worry more than is necessary.

Oh sweetie..
I know you are attached. I was attatched the min. we got our bfp and even more once we saw it.
I very much understand your fear. We had some complications in our u/s and although its rare miscarriage is a possibility of this complication. I had to reverify with doctor privately after. He said not to worry but I am. I will be worried until its gone and baby is here safely!
I hope things turn out well at the high risk OB
