For those of you who send your DC to a daycare center, do you send in diaper rash cream and a nose suction thingy? DH seems to think they won't apply the cream or use the suction when she needs it. I feel like its part of DC's care and should be a given. He doesn't want to feel stupid and ask (he takes her to and from) so I'm asking you guys before I make him ask;)
Will your daycare use those items if they're sent in?
Re: May be a stupid question re: daycare centers
Well, we used a little petroleum jelly at every diaper change for the first year to ward off rash, and our DCP happily did the same. So I think diaper rash cream is a totally reasonable ask. In fact, I remember them having a bin in the infant room full of creams with different kids' names on them. So we weren't alone.
The suction thingy is somehow different in my mind. While I love our nosefrida, I feel like it only provides relief for a short period of time and I guess I never felt like asking our DCP to do that when they had so many kids with stuffy noses. In a way, I'd be asking them to do nose suction all day.
That said, if your DD's congestion is particularly bad, it couldn't hurt to bring in the suction thingy in a ziplock baggie and say - if she's super congested and you feel like attempting it, here's a suction thingy! But I wouldn't be surprised if they don't end up using it and instead just wipe her nose (our DCP always used the aloe diaper wipes for this).
Using diaper cream is very normal. Depending on your state laws they may have you sign a form saying that you want them to do so.
I'm not sure how they would take the nose sucker. I do agree with PP, stick it in a baggie and offer it to them.

We sent DS's diaper rash cream with him to daycare, but we did have to have a note from the pedi saying it was ok for daycare to apply the cream with each diaper change. They use it on him. Not sure about the aspirator. You could ask your daycare center. My DS has never really needed a nasal aspirator at daycare. He's only there 2x/week, though.
I guess that makes sense. They'd be dealing with those things for every kid all the time if they did use the suction thing. I might see if I can send one in for particularly bad days and see what they say.
I'm glad to hear the experience with diaper cream though. She doesn't normally have an issue but every once in a while flares up just enough for me to use it once or 2x and then its fine.
I'll send the stuff in with him tomorrow and the worst they can say is no:P
they do need a form filled out for any creams - even sunscreen, which is crazy - thanks to freaking a-holes who sue over stupid things...
but they will put it on for sure.
when they were infants they had nose suckers at daycare, too.
We did a form for the diaper cream. New this year they started allowing the nose suckers. There was some detail about how to mark it. I think a baggie with name in marker would work.
Since you don't drop off or pick up you could call and ask what their policies are. I do this sometimes about certain things I want to discuss something and don't want to burden my husband with it.
I sent diaper rash cream.
the nose suctioner I didnt -- but if I did and asked her to use it, I feel she would.
