My DH had bloodwork about 5 weeks ago and an ultrasound about two weeks ago due to his SA results. We were told the ultra sound was fine and heard nothing about the bloodwork and "assumed" everything was normal. So we went to the dr and made our plans for our first IUI.
This morning I got a call from an endocrinologist office saying they are confirming my DH's appointment for today. Totally confused I said, "we dont have an appointment". The woman says "Yes, your husbands urologist called and asked that we get him in today because of his bloodwork results".
WWWHHAATTTT???
So I called the urologists office and am now waiting for the dr to call us back!!
My question is why would a urologist recommend an endocrinologist? Is it a bad sign that the dr made the appointment for us? Looking up the reasons on Google is just making me crazy!
Re: question and having a little panic attack
Bad form on the urologist's part...you should have been kept in the loop!
W/out knowing what the b/w consisted of, there is no way of telling why he thinks DH should see an endocrinologist. My out-of-the-blue guess would be thyroid issues, which are generally pretty easy to correct.
The urologist recommended the endocrinologist b/c some number in the b/w was out of the ordinary, and he isn't trained to treat hormone related stuff. It could be TTC related, could just be general-health related. I would not worry until you are told there is something to worry about. Doctors rarely seem to realize how their actions are read into and interpreted.
Shame on him for not giving you results and for making appointments w/out your knowledge, though! GL!

I just got off the phone with the urologist finally! DH's testosterone are very low and he needs to see the endocrinologist for more testing, an MRI and possible medication. Not as bad as I thought.
But did I ever let the dr have it. We are on edge enough. I told him I was very very upset that he waited 5 weeks to give us the results and then on top of that have an endocrinologists office call us with out us knowing anything. These doctors dont think sometimes!
To make matters worse the IUI that we scheduled for the end of May is cancled and we can not schedule another one until everything is figured out with DH.
Just when I thought we had a definite plan and direction.
I'm so sorry for the headache and the cancelled cycle!
Good for you!
I am sorry you're delayed, but glad you finally found out what is going on! I don't know much about low testosterone, but it seems like it could be a simple fix. GL!

so sorry for your delay!
when you are ready to read a silver lining:
my friend and her dh went through SEVEN iui procedures before anyone bothered to test her husband's hormones. turns out he had severely low testosterone and all those iui's were pointless.
hopefully a short delay now will lead to quicker success!

Praying unceasingly for a miracle. ALL welcome!
Thank you that put a smile on my face. And I really needed it.
After all of the unknown, i thought we had an answer and i had finally become ok with what our journey to parenthood was going to be and when it was going to start and now i feel deflated and unsure of whats next.
We wont know any answers for a few weeks due to more blood work, medication, an MRI and then another SA to see if it changed. It will probably be the end of june or july.
Whatever happens or comes our way, we will be strong and do what we need to do. The end result of a precious baby if what matters most no matter how long it takes or how challenging the process.
*Hugs* Hopefully, this appointment gets you where you want to go.
