Luckily I haven't had to buy too much because she received a lot as gifts but most of her wardrobe is for 6mo. so I'm trying to buy pieces here and there for when she gets bigger. I like Old Navy and Macy's both have good sales and are convenient to run into on my lunch hour. I like a lot of the clothes on Zulily too but I haven't bought anything yet.
DS got enough hand-me-downs from a friend that I haven't had to go shopping. In fact, I'm giving away 2/3 of his outgrown clothes to DH's stepsister because I have way too many to actually keep. We'll probably have to go shopping when he's 6 or 9 months. I'm hoping we can get most of his clothes from a consignment shop nearby.
Almost all of K's clothes have come from Just Between Friends consignment sales and a local consigment shop. I've bought a few things new, mainly at Target.
I LOVE consignment sales/shops for several reasons: The selection is huge! I can choose from many different colors, styles and brands. I can buy 3-4 items for the same price as I'd pay for 1 item at a retail store. Most things have already been washed so I don't have to worry about shrinkage. When she outgrows the clothes I can resell them to the shop and buy more.
The last JBF sale I went to I bought 18 outfits (many of them were 2 or 3 pieces), 4 onesies, 7 pairs of pants, 11 pairs of socks and 4 pairs of shoes for $140!

We too had tons of hand-me downs, but my favorite brand is Carters. Its cute and fits DD well. She is already in six months!
Carters 6 months = 3-6 months, so that seems appropriate
I agree with Carters, Old Navy, and Baby Gap. I also like Gymboree and Children's place, but I find Gymboree runs big and Children's Place runs really small.
Baby Gap and Carters. We're starting to grow out of Gymboree's 3-6 month footed jammies (however, the rest of their clothes run big).
Married 08.06 Started TTC 05.08 Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH DH: perfect 1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p 2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!
I like Carter's and Old Navy but lately I have been splurging a little (I NEED to stop!) at our 2 local baby boutiques! One of them carries Polo Ralph Lauren and I can't resist!
I buy probably 98% of my boys' stuff from local consignment sales and stores. I will occasionally buy DS1 new stuff b/c he wears it longer but everything DS2 has is either a gift, handmedown or from consignment.

Re: Shopping for LO
We got so many hand me downs, I bought him one outfit that he didn't even get to wear (long sleeve, hood and now it's too hot!).
Zulily, H&M

for baby clothes (up to 12 months I guess) I like Carters the best but baby gap too. Old Navy doesn't fit my kids very well.
for toddler clothes (just to throw it out there) I love Children's Place and Old Navy the best.
We also get a lot of hand me downs and of course DS2 has had allmost no new clothes... but when I do buy new that's where I go!
